Just caught up with Xavier Jones after the Board of Elections meeting in Greensboro. The decision on early voting sites didn’t go our way, but the energy is still high. His message to everyone: Don’t get discouraged, get organized. No matter what obstacles are put in place, we will still show up and vote!

I had the honor of attending the International Civil Rights Center & Museum annual gala in Greensboro this past Saturday night. A huge thank you goes out to the organizers, hosts, and staff who worked tirelessly to bring this powerful event to life. Congratulations to all the 2026 award recipients who labor non-stop to protect our democracy and defend civil rights. True patriotism isn’t about spreading fear or peddling division; it is about actively fighting to build an inclusive America where everyone belongs. I love this country and the beautiful diversity of its people. It was an honor to chat with Roy cooper and hear from Stedman Graham.

The NC A&T weekly farmers market operates every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. It is located on the front porch of the Alvin V. Blount Jr. Student Health Center at 112 N. Benbow Road. The market provides a critical source of fresh, affordable vegetables in an area designated as a food desert. N.C. A&T students (“Aggies”) and Farmers team up directly to serve the East Greensboro community. This market gladly accepts snap and they provide snap sign-up assistance for anyone needing help getting benefits.

The Guilford County Board of Elections members will make important decisions regarding early voting sites for the upcoming election at its next meeting on July 21 at 2:00 p.m.

Location: Board of Commissioners Meeting Room at the Old Guilford County Courthouse, 301 W. Market Street, Greensboro, NC.

These decisions will help shape voter access across our county. Residents are encouraged to attend the meeting as observers.
