Paños

Originally used to communicate in el Tambo in the 1930s . Paños quickly became a staple for artist to express their work and feelings in prison. Paños are also used as a commissary and were originally made from old bed sheets and pillow cases.

This personal piece was made to bring comfort for any one who’s blessed to still receive Paños from their loved ones who are currently incarcerated. Most of all for the artist in prison who choose to express their art in an original and organic form.

The pain never goes away. The sympathy is so fake some times I could almost smell the plastic, but you taught me better. You taught me to live without hate in my heart or have anger towards people who don’t know any better. To focus on myself and make others see the better part of me through that. Although The clouds hang low over my head daily, when every bit of sunlight hits my face, I know it’s you. That gives me the faith I need to keep going.
I’ll never stop trying to live as free spirited as you did jefe and when I feel like I’ve done everything in my power to make you proud, it’s then I’ll feel some sort of peace. But until that day comes, I ask you and God to watch me, guide me and help me make you proud. Love You Jefe❤️🙏🏽✊🏽 #lastridewithpops by @chucotuga
