A year ago, I was inducted as a Registered Nurse.

Since then, life has looked like waiting, hoping, volunteering, learning, questioning myself, trying again, and still showing up even when things felt uncertain.

As recently as last week Wednesday, I was still volunteering at St. Mary’s Hospital.

Then life changed quickly.

And this week, I officially started my nursing internship at National Hospital Abuja, currently posted to the NICU. 🩺🌱

Honestly… it still feels surreal.

I’m slowly learning that sometimes growth is happening quietly even when it feels like nothing is moving.

Grateful for this new beginning.
Grateful for growth.
And grateful to finally step into a season I prayed so hard for. 🤍

Today, I celebrate more than a new age.

I celebrate grace.

This year stretched me, strengthened me, and grew me in ways I never imagined.
There were days I felt strong… and days I whispered prayers through tears.
Yet through it all, God held me.

I am not standing here because life was easy.
I am standing because grace carried me.

I am still growing.
Still becoming.
Still trusting.

And today, I step into a new year with gratitude, faith, and a heart full of hope. 🤍✨

We’ve all heard that before, right?

But no one really tells you what kind of step to take or how it’s supposed to look.
They just keep saying, “Take a step.”

And I remember saying that to myself too
“Chioma, take a step.”

But the funny thing is… I didn’t even realize I had already been taking steps.
Small ones. Quiet ones.
Moments that didn’t look like progress, but actually were.

Because that’s the thing
Sometimes, you don’t notice how far you’ve come until you pause and look back.
And you see the footprints.

Today, I smiled in the middle of ordinary moments.
The antenatal clinic was alive - a mix of laughter, chatter, and gentle movement. I watched pregnant women sway as we encouraged them to dance. Their joy was contagious.

Somewhere between the noise and the laughter, I felt calm.
Maybe it’s the reminder that life keeps unfolding softly, even when I don’t have everything figured out.
I used to think joy had to come in big ways, but lately I’m learning it hides in small things a shared laugh, a deep breath, a gentle nudge from a colleague.

Today felt different maybe because I was present.
And maybe, because I’m learning to grow - not just as a nurse, but as a woman learning to notice quiet joy.
