@chuoman Jesus Perez is a friend of mine. We studied together in college, and today he lives in Omaha, Nebraska.

The videos I’m sharing were recorded by his family. They show two sides of the same tragedy: first, his loved ones escaping from collapsed buildings and fighting to survive, and then members of his own family, who are firefighters, risking their lives to rescue others trapped under the rubble.

International disaster response authorities estimate that nearly 6 million people have been affected by these earthquakes, at different levels of impact. That number reflects the enormous scale of this humanitarian crisis.

As the days go by, public attention often fades, but Jesús and I feel a responsibility to help my American friends understand the true magnitude of what is happening in Venezuela.

Please continue supporting the relief efforts however you can—whether in Omaha, Nebraska, Kansas City, or St. Joseph, Missouri. Every donation, every shared post, and every act of kindness helps families who have lost so much.

Venezuela still needs the world’s support. by @chuoman
