MEET OUR PASTOR

Every Pastor is shaped by what he loves. This one is shaped by a deep love for Jesus, for people, and for the slow, faithful work of formation.

@blaquenubon leads from the middle, living fully in the world, engaging culture with wisdom, and calling people to be shaped by a better story, the story of Jesus. He believes the gospel is meant to be embodied in every day life, and that when men lead with self-sacrificial love, families and communities don’t just survive, they are restored.

This is the heart behind Church In The Middle: real faith, lived honestly, in the middle of real life.

Why we’re planting Church In The Middle

We believe church isn’t just for Sundays, it’s for life in the middle of real stories, real struggles, and real culture. After years of walking with people through anxiety, confusion, loneliness, and the pressure to perform, we’ve seen how much people are longing for rest, truth, belonging, and purpose that actually sticks. Jo'burgers are exhausted and searching for something that feels real, not just nostalgic. So by God's grace we’re planting a Church that's In The Middle of culture, where life is fast-paced, ambitions are high, and questions about God often go unanswered.

We’re here to help people fully live in the world, engaging culture with wisdom, while being formed by the story of Jesus. We are responding to a world tired of relativism and craving something worth living for. This isn’t about escaping the world, it’s about engaging it with clarity, love, and Jesus in the middle of it all.

Come with us into the middle.

Church is more than a place we go to, it’s a people we grow with. 🧡

A community learning to love like Jesus, walk with Him, and do life together. A place to grow in faith, find meaningful connections, and be reminded that we were never meant to walk this journey alone.

But don’t just take our word for it. Come and experience it for yourself! 🫶🏽

Describe church in ONE word. What does church mean to you? We would love to hear your thoughts! Drop your word in the comments below.

📍 Join us this Sunday at 9:30 AM at Hooked Coffee, Midrand.

There’s a place for you here. 🧡 by @churchinthemiddle_

THIS IS CHURCH IN THE MIDDLE! 🧡🧡🧡

A culture of people who worship Christ together, walk with Christ together, and grow in Christ together.

Where faith is strengthened through community, burdens are shared, prayers are lifted, and lives are shaped by the Word. Where we encourage one another, celebrate one another, and remind each other of the One who brings us together.

This is more than gathering in the same space. It’s choosing to walk the journey of faith together, keeping Christ at the centre of it all.

This is a people learning to love like Christ, live like Christ, and become more like Him, together. by @churchinthemiddle_

week 6 of khumbul’ekhaya: build anyway. 🧡

AP shared how she found Sunday and the word that was shared with us.

Sometimes, God speaks into a season before we can see how His promise will come to pass. Even when our circumstances feel uncertain, His Word remains true.

Through Jeremiah 32, we were reminded that Jeremiah bought a field while Jerusalem was under siege. It didn’t seem like the right time to invest in the future, but God was showing His people that the story wasn’t over.

For AP, Sunday was a reminder that faith means trusting God’s Word, even when the evidence around us suggests otherwise. It means continuing to believe, continuing to build, and holding on to what God has spoken.

If God has spoken, trust His Word. Keep believing. Build anyway.

See you in the middle. 🧡 by @churchinthemiddle_

We officially inducted our first Carriers at Church In The Middle!

We call them Carriers because being part of this community means more than having a place to attend on Sundays. It means carrying the presence, character, message and mission of Jesus into the world, in the way we live and the way we love people.

What started as a vision is becoming a community. People finding their place, committing to the journey and choosing to build something together, right here in the middle of life.

To our first Carriers, welcome to this next part of the journey. We’re grateful to be building this with you, and we can’t wait to see what God does through us together. by @churchinthemiddle_

is there a way back?

Sometimes we carry things that make us believe we’ve gone too far. Things we wish we could undo. Things we don’t even know how to bring before God.

But Jeremiah 31 reminds us that God’s answer to our brokenness isn’t simply, “try harder.”

He promises something deeper. A new covenant. A new heart. A relationship with Him that isn’t built on our ability to get everything right.

Maybe the way back isn’t about becoming better before we come to God.

Maybe it starts with coming back to Him as we are.

Week 5 of Khumbul’ekhaya took us into Jeremiah 31, where Pastor Blaque reminded us of a love that doesn’t disappear when we mess up.

We all have moments we’re embarrassed by. Moments we wish people didn’t know about. Moments that can make us wonder if God could really still love us through this.

But John 3:16 doesn’t just tell us how much God loves us. It shows us how He loves us.

He demonstrates it.

Before we could get our lives together, before we could read the Bible, tithe, serve or do anything to earn His love, Jesus gave His whole self for us.

Even in the middle of our worst moments, God’s covenant remains.

So, is there a way back? by @churchinthemiddle_

Today was a special Sunday at Church In The Middle as we inducted our first Carriers.

We don’t call ourselves members. We call ourselves Carriers because belonging to Jesus means carrying His presence, His character, His message and His mission into the world.

And in week 5 of Khumbul’ekhaya, Pastor Blaque reminded us of something we all need to hear: our worst moments don’t disqualify us from God’s love.

The embarrassing parts. The moments we wish we could erase. The things that make us wonder if God could still love us through all of it.

He does.

God meets us in the middle of it all and reminds us of His covenant. His love doesn’t disappear when life gets ugly.

Maybe that’s part of what it means to be a Carrier. To know the love of God for ourselves, and then carry that love into the world. 🧡 by @churchinthemiddle_

“For I know the plans I have for you…”

We all know the verse. But what if God’s plans for us are ultimately about bringing us back to Him?

Week 4 of Khumbul’ekhaya reminded us that His plans are not simply about where we end up, what we have or how our lives turn out. They lead us back to the One who holds it all.

And that means learning to trust Him, submit to Him and live where He has placed us, even when we don’t understand the plan.

Today, we continue with week 5 of Khumbul’ekhaya.

See you in the middle. 🧡 by @churchinthemiddle_
