What happens when you Google Guevedoce?

This editorial expands the visual archive for people whose images on the internet often depict them through a purely clinical lens, in some cases graphic and dehumanizing.

The Guevedoces in Salinas, Dominican Republic, believed to be female at birth develop male genitalia during puberty, typically around the age of 12. Their excistence reveals a fairly common human experience in relation with nature, like a calla lily slowly opening to reveal its spadix.

Layers peel back, proving us that whats “natural” is far more complex and inclusive than the moral constructs we often impose on gender & society.
