POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
I have received hundreds of phone calls and letters from District 11 communities regarding the proposed Crocker Amazon Park renovation. I have heard from so many youth, elders, neighbors, park users, families, community organizations, and longtime residents of the Excelsior. Thank you for sharing your concerns and aspirations!

At this time, I cannot support the current proposal because it fails to address core elements of community feedback, including balancing natural grass with artificial turf, maximizing the mature tree canopy, clarifying park protocols, and upgrading the clubhouse.

In April, I requested our Mayor and the Recreation & Parks department to hold additional community workshops to ensure that we center the needs of District 11 communities, especially those who will be most impacted by this project. First and foremost, I am committed to honoring the process of community involvement in this project.

The Recreation & Parks Department recently summarized the feedback received, which I am sharing for review. It covers trees, circulation, amenities, gathering spaces, parking, dog parks, synthetic turf, and lighting and operations.

I am committed to ensuring that the community’s efforts lead to concrete improvements. I look forward to working with our community, Rec & Parks, the SF Giants, and the Mayor to achieve these goals. by @chyannechensf

It is my honor to celebrate Patti Barraza whose work reflects the heart and spirit of the Excelsior community. Patti's leadership has made the neighborhood more resilient, whether through her efforts connecting people with resources during the pandemic, or through bringing fun cultural events to District 11. Now with her work at Liveable City, she is transforming Sunday Streets into a space where communities can showcase their pride.

During Latino Heritage Month, we proudly recognize your dedication to the Excelsior community and commitment to building spaces for our families to connect and celebrate our vibrant cultures. by @chyannechensf

Sexual assault is a pervasive and growing epidemic. It doesn't only harm survivors. It destabilizes communities and echoes across generations.

We stand in solidarity with survivors of sexual assault, including those who suffer in silence. Regardless of the race, sexual orientation, or gender of the survivor, sexual assault is never acceptable and it's never excusable.

Beyond our solidarity, as women, we are angry and we are exhausted. In recent years we have watched men accused of sexual assault rise as high as the Supreme Court and the presidency. This week alone, we saw the horrific incident at Cornell, and today two more men here in San Francisco came forward with allegations against Manny Yekutiel.

As women elected officials, we understand how much it matters that our constituents feel safe, and we work hard to create spaces where we can hear them and respond to their needs.

Regardless of Manny Yekutiel's qualifications, we do not believe he should continue his campaign for the Board of Supervisors. San Francisco cannot reward serious allegations of sexual violence with elected office. Our residents deserve a full investigation of these allegations before anyone asks them to trust this candidate with public power. by @chyannechensf
