I’ve been missing and thinking about my mom a lot more than usual this year. Thinking about what kind of relationship we’d have, what kind of protesting she’d be doing against this administration, and what she’d think of the person I’ve become.

It’s getting harder to remember her voice, her smell, and her touch, but I feel her spirit with me most days. This Mother’s Day has me feeling more tender, more reminiscent, and a little sad.

She had her flaws. She struggled, she was abused, sometimes she gave up, and then she tried again. She did the best she could with what she had. The older I get, the more I realize that sometimes your best still falls short, and that’s okay.

I know how much she loved my sister and me. She showed so much compassion to her friends and mine too, sometimes more than I felt I got, and for a long time I was envious of that. Now I see the beauty in it. The need my friends had for that gentle conversation, those words of encouragement, that softness.

I miss you so much. Happy Mother’s Day. ❤️

Please enjoy these cute photos of my mom eating a burger and changing a diaper. by @chyfy

¡Thirty SIX!
Spent a lovely pre birthday weekend with my boo Charlie who planned a sweet and sweaty Palm Springa getaway for me, making me feel like the special baby libra that I am in a city that I love to relax in.

Not gonna lie, this year has been HARD— trying to savor all the sweet bits and soak up the laughs as much as possible.
