I canโ€™t even imagine what their lives would have been like if he hadnโ€™t been killed in the duel. It brings me true sadness knowing Eliza was alone for so long. She had to grieve not only for her son and husband, but for her unborn baby, parents, sisters, best friend, and many other people closest to her. It saddens me to know that he lied to her about where he would be on the morning of July 11 1804. Imagine having to say goodbye to the person you love most in the world, not knowing that would be the last time you would ever see them alive and well again. The last time Eliza saw Alexander, he was in pain and dying. Eliza lost so much in her life and still had so much strength to speak out for her rights even after everything she went through. I bet she knew Alex would always be looking down on her and the kids from heaven. Ugh Eliza had to be so strong for her family, and especially for her children. Iโ€™m so glad her story was heard, and that she was able to accomplish all the amazing things she wanted to see change in the last 50 years of her life. I wish I could have been able to see the moment when her and Alexander reunited in heaven. I imagine it was so incredibly beautiful, and many tears where shed that day on November 9 1854. They went through so much together and deserve a lot more recognition. During this time their son had been killed in a duel and they were really going through what most people would call the โ€œunimaginableโ€. The way they stayed so strong even after everything they went through is just beyond me. ๐‡๐š๐ฆ๐ฅ๐ข๐ณ๐š {Definition of deserved better.} One thing that is not mentioned in the musical is knowing exactly what happened after the duel. The pain Eliza must have felt seeing her husband in the condition that he was in, and knowing that he was going to die. Then him passing away right infront of her and their children. Itโ€™s so incredibly heartbreaking to see someone like her go through so much but, still continue to strive, keeping on going, and fight for basic human and womenโ€™s rights.
