New Zealand’s Banks Peninsula, home to the well-known port of Akaroa (yes, we named our seakayak “AKAROA” after it), is famous for its breathtaking scenery and unique wildlife. In a seakayak, you have the chance to explore this remote coastline on your own and experience the wildlife up close - especially seals, sea lions, and the famous “world’s smallest dolphins,” the Hector dolphins. That’s exactly what @nadja_zicke and @chzicke did last winter with their Lettmann Biskayas. Maybe you’re planning a trip Down Under for next winter? If so, you definitely shouldn’t miss the chance to grab a seakayak and visit the Banks Peninsula!

Green hills and colorfull rocks. That’s the scenery just a few kilometers from Akaroa Harbor.

The more you paddle towards the mouth, where the sheltered harbor meets the pacific ocean, the more rough and remote the coastline becomes.

Is there something better than exploring caves in a seakayak?

Open waters close to the Pacific’s mouth. That’s where you meet the dolphines!

That’s where the seals live and take a bath in the sun: rocky beaches.

Ein Grund für uns nach Australien 🇦🇺 zu reisen: KOALAS! Und Kängurus natürlich. Aber während letztere einem immer wieder über den Weg laufen und sogar am Frühstückstisch betteln, muss man die Augen schon gut aufhalten, um einen Koala in freier Natur zu sehen. Diese hier haben wir im Koala Conservation Reserve auf Philip Island in Victoria fotografiert. Zwar haben wir auch welchen wild im Baum gefunden, die waren aber selbst für die OM-1 mit 300mm (600mm KB Equivalent) zu weit weg. Und vom Baum schütteln darf man sie ja auch nicht (siehe Bild zwei) 😬 taken in Phillip Island Koala Conservation Centre by @chzicke

In Australia haben wir letzten Winter einen meiner liebsten Vögel in freier Natur angetroffen, den Kookaburra. Ein wirklich cooler Vogel mit einem unverwechselbaren Lachen. Hätte nicht gedacht, dass ich dem mal so nah kommen würde. Schön! taken in Victoria, Australia by @chzicke

Das war wirklich ein ganz wunderbares Wochenende mit @lettmanngmbh & @lutz_paddelt & @outdoordirekt & @sportschroeer bei der Saisoneröffnungs-Sause 2026 in Holibu, Moers und Duisburg.
