What does Fuinneamh mean to you?

I got to ask Luke what Fuinneamh means to him, as a friend for the past few years I know that Fuinneamh is more than just a festival and I wanted to show him my vision of his vision

Of course it's just him speaking here and what you don't see is the huge team of people that's also necessary to make Fuinneamh run the way that it does, Fuinneamh is like an organism or an ecosystem. Luke is just one part of that throughout the running of the festival and he’s full of praise about how this is a vision that’s held by many and not just him.

Fuinneamh is a very special place for me and a lot of this footage was taken on one day which was honestly one of the best days of my life. This video is a special tribute to a great man and a great friendship and to all of the people that help Fuinneamh come into reality. by @ciantastic

Nothing can describe that moment when you are told at 23 years old that you have cancer.

An emotional and physical shock that pulls the ground from underneath you. Your life becomes a bewildering world of opposites. The hospital that is supposed to be your place of sanctuary seems to be the scariest place to be. Moments of joy are tainted with thoughts of ‘is this my last?’ and existentialism becomes the norm.

I have never felt such isolation and crushing disconnection before, but luckily, God, the universe and/or faith gifted me a new friend, Cian, during this time. From telling him we’d have to cancel our shoot due to my cancer treatment, to him graciously opening up about his own cancer journey and creating this with me, it was in my greatest time of need.

As a fellow artist, Cian recognised how art and music were my crutch throughout my journey. Just before my surgery and during my cancer diagnosis, I was gifted the incredible experience of playing for @notzeda at @immaireland . The rigorous practice and hope that this event gave me created an outlet that helped to calm me and turn the storm in my head into a melody that would flow out of my violin.

I am so blessed and grateful to be alive, and to have had music, family and friends to show me light in the darkness... and I hope that this video can be a beacon of reassurance and resilience to anyone else going through their own battles, or even help those who have loved ones facing similar battles to empathise more with our journeys.
