In other news,
It was beautiful to sing with these girls, @oliviamihet and @rocca_rose in my garden recently.
Small tuning issue at the end, but we’re practicing.

This song; ‘Breathe Easy’ was written by @karlyloveling an American songleader, songwriter, and permissionary of heartfelt expression.

Thank you Karly. And thank you to the blackbirds for the accompaniment. 🐦‍⬛ taken in My garden by @ciarafinnerty

If you’re around Cork City tomorrow, pop in to St Peter’s Church at 12:30pm for a coffee, and join myself and @default_peter for a little concert.

We will be connecting through song with the mindful way in which the poets of the Irish language folk tradition saw the world around them. We will explore this both through traditional Irish songs, as well as through our own songwriting.

We are delighted to be sitting on stools hand crafted from native Irish trees by @paul.mindfulmaker. I had the pleasure of sitting on one of the stools in Paul’s workshop recently, and they inspired a sense of calmness, so I’m very much looking forward to seeing what comes about tomorrow as we sit on them.

St.Peters is currently playing host to an exhibition to the CCD Voice of the Craft Exhibition.

Peter, Hannah and I had a beautiful day performing ’A Woodland Harmony’ Music, Nature & Activism concert at @midletonartsfest.

We had the best audience who came with curiosity and openness on this mindful experience of music and activism through the woods.

Thank you very much to @midletonartsfest, @corkcitycouncil and @creativeireland for supporting this event and making it possible.

Thank you also very much to @alicbarry, @belindawalsh, Kara, and @ciara_m_moloney for helping me get it off the ground, and to local storyteller Kate O’Sullivan for planning the route with me, and sharing the lore of the area.

And last but certainly not least, thank you to Pat Ahern for teaching me this beautiful song. It is the same air as ‘Danny Boy’, but the story is much more beautiful. A little gem. And to @default_peter and @blackberrybrambles for creating this woodland adventure with me. It was a pleasure to be accompanied by Peter on the guitar, and to listen to his new music and storytelling, and to listen to Hannah’s experience of living in the trees in Germany to prevent the expansion of a Tesla factory.

🎥 Thank you so much to @ciara_m_moloney for the video.

Dear friends,

I am delighted to invite you to a cute event.

I am doing an intimate walking concert with @default_peter , and environmental activist Hannah Wales, next Saturday, 10th May 2-3pm at the Midleton Baby Walk, a beautiful little woodland area in Midleton town.

We will sing a collection of songs from our different walks of life. Some Irish language songs, some originals, as well as the invitation for the audience to join in a song or two, all with the intention of mindfully immersing ourselves among the trees.

A huge thank you to @midletonartsfest, @corkcountycouncil , @creativeireland, and @alicbarry for supporting this event and making it possible.

There are a limited number of tickets available on Eventbrite.
Link in bio.

It would be so lovely to see you there.

Yesterday I spent some time with this beautiful cow in the soft glow of the evening sun. She peeped at me through the long grass, and I felt a peace in her presence.

Nature is a loving friend. Always offering us just what we need.

For the last few days I have been writing the things I am grateful for in my journal before going to bed. It helps strengthen the neurological pathways in the brain that focus attention on the blessings around us.

Day recording strings for my original Spanish song on Monday.
Listening to beautiful sounds being made, much of the day was spent snuggling up on the very comfy couch with blankets. It was lovely to meet @____murph___ , the special in house mascot.

Thank you to everyone who contributed and made it all possible 🙏🏻

Nature is endlessly abundant, and it seems to be particularly in your face at this time of year.
I’m being reminded that life can be that way too.

I finally bought a 6-month pass to Blarney Castle Gardens, and I can confirm it was a good idea.

Had such a great day yesterday recording the first lines of an original song with this exceptional team. When we’ve had enough fun with it ourselves we will share it with the world.

Imbolc!

Spring has arrived, and brought with it the first grassling flowers! My feet feel so happy to be back touching the earth.

I haven’t been particularly active here recently. I did some performances in the meantime, but mostly rested in the Dreamtime, planning my next steps.

I was grateful for the words of Mari Kennedy in the last few weeks which said
“we will not rush or be forced to make New Year’s resolutions...
wait
wait
linger in the liminal a little longer.”

Her words reminded me that I could trust what I was feeling, that I could linger there a little longer, until I felt ready to emerge again. Today as nature emerges, I am gently emerging too.

Here is a little reminder to be gentle with yourself if you have not fully gotten into the swing of the new year just yet.

You’re just on time.
