MEET THE ARTIST: CIARA WHARTON

Next in our series introducing the artists exhibiting at Hughenden Manor is mixed-media artist and painter Ciara Wharton @ciarawharton .

Ciara’s creative journey has been shaped by living and travelling across three continents, with inspiration coming from ancient cultures, everyday life and faded memories.

Her recent body of work explores ancient symbolism, layering meanings and subtle codes into her work to spark curiosity, emotion and human connection.

Growing up in Northern Ireland during The Troubles also had a profound influence on Ciara. She recalls being moved by the powerful gable-wall murals that gave a voice to shared tragedy and social injustice – and today she remains passionate about art’s ability to connect people and bridge divides.

Ciara has worked as an independent artist and teacher for more than two decades, has exhibited in Sweden and Jordan, and has also used her art to support charitable causes.

Come and discover Ciara’s fascinating work for yourself at Hughenden, alongside original work from many more Bucks Artists and Makers.

📍 Hughenden Manor, High Wycombe
🗓 Open now until 20 September
⏰ 10am–4.30pm
🎟 FREE entry during Heritage Open Days

There’s still plenty of time to visit – don’t miss it!
