⭐️ CANDY IN PANTOLAND ⭐️

Promendade and The Everyman in association with Mockie Ah! present - CANDY IN PANTOLAND - Ireland’s first all drag Christmas pantomime!

Written by Candy Warhol and directed by Des Kennedy

Candy Warhol is the world’s most talented drag queen (just ask her!) but nobody knows it just yet. After a series of career setbacks, she finds herself transported to a fantastical fairyland where she embarks on a queer crusade through the wonderful world of Pantoland.

Based on a 100% true story, and winner of the 2027 Tony Award for Best New Play (they already promised!), Candy is joined by her eccentric mouse Gus Gus and a host of familiar fairytale friends on a hilarious magical adventure like no other! As they battle to escape the claws of The Wicked Witch and her evil queens, Candy and her pals must face more drama than an Eastenders cliffhanger, more tension than a Traitors round table, and more camp chaos than a Housewives reunion.

Ireland’s first all-drag pantomime promises to be the campest show this Christmas season – Oh yasss it does!

Featuring an international cast, prepare yourself for huge laughs, jaw-dropping costumes, major musical numbers, spellbinding surprises, shocking twists and plenty of audience participation.

The ultimate festive night out, perfect for parties and celebrations, this is panto like you’ve never seen it before. Running for two nights only, grab your tickets now and prepare yourself for an epic drag adventure!

“Candy Warhol is an absolute star” – Candy Warhol

“A future Leaving Cert play classic” – Nadine Coyle

“It’s like Dancing at Lughnasa if the sisters were played by drag queens on an acid trip” – Oscar Wilde

“I told you to stop messaging me, I’ve sent a cease and desist” – Siobhán McSweeney

This year I am the St Patrick’s Parade Community Artist-Curator in Residence with Cork City Council.

Over the course of the residency I have been working with the Rebel Wheelers on their creative participation for this years parade. I am thrilled to announce that tomorrow the group will take to the streets of Cork bringing to life imaginative creatures and a tribe of warriors living in a post-apocalyptic world.

As a club the Rebel Wheelers empower young people with disabilities by introducing them to sports in a fun and safe environment. The core ethos is to
promote inclusion independence, healthy living and well-being through participation in sport. The same can be achieved through art so the characters
created represent the Rebel Wheelers in a visual manner and uphold the club mission statement.

I would like to say a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone at Rebel Wheelers for being so open and welcoming when we started back in October last year. Thank to to the Saturday Morning Club and all kids and parents.

To Rowena and Maeve who coordinated all our sessions. Thank you to Junior Basketball and their head coach Fergal and club chair Paudie.

A project like this isn’t an individual undertaking and I have the most incredible creative team behind me.

- Thank you to Donna O’ Keeney for working on the story, brainstorming characters and getting our imaginations going.
- Tara Brandel for working on choreography & movement to bring the characters to life.
- A massive thank you to Elisa Gallo Rosso and the entire team at Cork Puppetry Company for creating all of the costumes, props, sculptures and puppets.

Thank to to @corkcitycouncil for funding the residency and thank you to the arts office team, Michelle Carew, Marcela Whelan Kelly and Trish Murphy.

Lastly thank you to Kath Gorman & Promenade for the continued support as always.

The parade kicks off at 1pm tomorrow in Cork City and trust me you don’t want to miss this ☘️

That’s a wrap on Pitch’d 2023. Thank you to the team, all the artists, venues, partners, sponsors, volunteers and audiences who made this years festival possible over an incredible 2 weekends.

Personal highlights include speaking on Promenade’s Producer Panel Discussion. I was honoured to speak on the importance of inclusivity & diversity in my artistic practise and the importance of support and mentoring for emerging producers. Promenade also hosted a Producers Coffee Morning with a huge turnout to share ideas, projects while connecting producers and artists.

It may be late but International Women’s Day wasn’t overlooked by the incredible crew of the SV Tenacious.

At anchor off the island of Guadeloupe we celebrated the diversity of identities and mixed abilities onboard and the power of inclusion and accessible adventure.

SV Tenacious and the intoxicating colours of the Caribbean plus the wonderful group of people who made my 2nd voyage such a memorable experience 🇦🇬🇬🇵

Jacques Yves Cousteau said it best - “The sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in its net of wonder forever.”
