Congratulations to Past CIBSE President Fiona Cousins on her election as a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering! 👏

Fiona, Chief Operating Officer, Total Design at Arup, was among 75 leading engineers and technology figures elected to the Academy’s Fellowship at its Annual General Meeting.

The 2026 cohort includes a record 24 women and brings together individuals making significant contributions across industry, academia, policy and innovation.

Fiona served as CIBSE President in 2024–2025, championing her presidential theme Building Performance Reimagined and challenging the profession to look beyond traditional measures of building performance to consider the wider outcomes buildings can deliver for people, communities and the environment.

A Chartered Engineer and Fellow of CIBSE, Fiona remains closely connected to the Institution and continues to make a significant contribution to the wider engineering profession.

We’re delighted to celebrate this well-deserved recognition of Fiona’s contribution to engineering and the built environment!

🏗️ Delivering safer buildings in practice

CIBSE recently brought together industry experts for the Building Safety Conference 2026, exploring the next phase of building safety reform and what it means in practice.

From competence and accountability to building performance, lifecycle risk and the net zero transition, the conference focused on how the industry can deliver safer, more resilient and better-performing buildings.

We were also delighted to welcome Dame Judith Hackitt, CIBSE Fellow, as our keynote speaker.
