What a night🐉✨🫶

If you haven’t seen already, @cicelycoops was on Drangons Den this week with her business @selkiehaircare, and let’s just say she SMASHED IT!!

I have quite honestly never felt pride like it. Having been by Cicely’s side for her whole journey launching and building Selkie, I know just how much grit and determination got her to this point.

Like all founders, Cic has faced her fair share of challenges, but to see her tenacity be recognised by 4 of the biggest business leaders of our time is a testament to what she has built.

Well… the cat’s officially out the bag 😅 We’re going to be on Dragons’ Den!!!

When I started Selkie 2 and a half years ago, I couldn’t have imagined the heights to which it would grow and to be typing this now is SO surreal!

If you’d asked me a month ago what you actually do on an accelerator, I’d have no idea…

Now I’m one of ten brands, out of hundreds that applied, on @breakout.uk - the most exciting beauty accelerator there is ✨

There’s the big prize we’re all striving for, which is getting stocked in Boots, and hopefully in the not-too-distant future you’ll see Selkie on shelves 🤞🤩

But really the prize is just being on it and I’m loving every minute!

Truthfully, the last two years have felt really up and down…

But you hear other founders talk about the moment things start to click, and honestly, that’s what the last few weeks has felt like for me.

The absolute standout is being one of 11 brands (out of 300+ applicants) on the 2026 Breakout Beauty UK cohort 💛 A 10-week accelerator backed by Boots and TikTok Shop, and is easily the most exciting thing we’ve done to date. And there’s also a lot going on behind the scenes that I can’t quite talk about yet… 👀

I’m meeting incredible people and am surrounded by inspiring founders who truly get it. After two and a half years of doing nearly all of this alone, it feels amazing to finally be on this kind of trajectory.

I started Selkie with zero budget for literally anything 😅 and one stubborn belief - that haircare could & should be better. I just can’t wait to make Selkie the household name I know it can be ✨
