I’m headed to #CiderCon2025 next week, scion wood on board. Exploring heritage cider apple varieties not commonly grown today has been a focus for our three @foggyridgecider orchards. Back in 1997 when I planted our test orchard there were few (none?) commercial plantings of cider apples like Hewe’s Crab. Now many American cider apple varieties are grown all over the country. Today I want my apple customers to have access to the unique flavor profiles found in many #oldsouthernapples grown for hundreds of years for cider making. If you’re heading to Chicago for this valuable event be sure to join the Scion Swap…I’m bringing Winter Jon, a late season cider apple that flourishes in our mountain orchard. @pickcider @ciderconference @danpucci will be around to share his knowledge about American cider apples, plus growers and makers exchanging apple scions and hard-won know-how. #scionwood #ciderapples #vacider #nccider by @ciderconference
