Day 14: Mutation. Can you tell I like drawing Simon’s mutations? They are very fun to draw, and this comic was very much an excuse to draw Grace touching a shirtless Simon. Can you blame me? I know you freaks are happy to see this (I say as the freak who drew it). Day 13: Microscopic. Grace goes in to a very long and complicated explanation of astrophage after this. Simon understands… most of it. He’s very smart but Grace is using a lot of weird analogies and references (“whoomp there it is” ass interjections lol) and Simon is not in fact a biologist. He loves to hear him talk though, so it’s okay. Technically astrophage isn’t responsible for the quiet rapture, but they’re probably running under that assumption for a while before accepting Simon’s probably from another universe (Grace will definitely have a slight crisis over this). Also additional microscopic Simon because I couldn’t pass up an opportunity to draw him like a tiny sopping wet little kitten on the side of the road. by @cidkane13

Day 12: Grief. I feel like Simon would want to honor his mom is some way once he settles on Erid, especially since he lost the only gift he had from her. She certainly didn’t get a proper burial on Eden, we know what they did with bodies. I feel like giving her a monument next to these trees that are symbol of Simon’s new life felt appropriate, considering how how much he lost to the last tree. Idk I’m just making shit up atp lol. Need to make a fun design for Graces cane once I get the chance, ran out time to make it cool for this drawing but there’s no way Rocky wouldn’t deck that thing out for his soulmate. #bloodymarytober #bloodymary #ironlung #projecthailmary #rylandgrace by @cidkane13

Day 11 : 0g. I’ve had this comic idea for a while, so finally used this day to do it! It’s entirely possible Simon has experienced 0g before, he literally grew up in space, however for the sake of this comic I’m deciding he has not. The stations all had artificial gravity so the closest experience he’s had is that 5 seconds when the iron lung got dropped, which is very obviously different lol. Would Simon actually be this confident in this claim? Not sure, but he is for today’s purposes. It’s banter, they’re getting comfy with each other, it’s (probably) in character. Day 9: Fate. This was fun one to work on. I’m obsessed with this specific parallel they have. Both get the red line across the face?? Both have red as a very significant part of their story?? Day 6: Reverence. Simon for sure starts out with a bit of an unhealthy view of their dynamic. Very much sees himself as undeserving of Graces “goodness”. Grace rectifies this as quickly as possible and establishes them as being on equal footing, but it takes a minute to settle in. Also I feel like talking about my thoughts on the ‘angel’ nickname for Grace cause it feels relevant. I do like the nickname but not in like a Simon revering Grace because that feels a little unhealthy? But like, in my head, initially Simon thought Grace was an actual angel when they met because he thought he was for sure dead and he came to in this completely bright white and clean place with a beautiful man taking care of him. He obviously realizes pretty quickly that Grace is not an angel, both due to his overall clumsiness and silly demeanor as well as accepting he’s not dead. Later on he comes back to seeing Grace as his angel in the way that he’s so kinda and generous and selfless, traits Simon has only ever associated with angels due to the environment he grew up in. Plus he realizes that the nickname really flusters Grace and he finds that cute. So like he doesn’t see him as ‘an angel’ that is above him and bestowing goodness upon him, but as ‘his angel’ who has brought light and Gaines’s into his life? Does any of this make sense? I hope yall enjoyed my yapping lol, it is in fact three am so this may be incomprehensible. In regards to the actual piece, not entirely happy with how it came out, but I liked the concept. Maybe I’ll redo it sometime when I have more than a couple hours to get it done haha. (Ignore when this was posted, it was for sure on the 6th don’t even worry about it. Day 5: Greenhouse. Grace may not be able to keep a plant alive for anything, but he loves helping Simon in the greenhouse. I fear he may be more a distraction than help though. Kinda trying to use this challenge to work on my backgrounds skills, because I tend to opt out of drawing them.
