What do you need in life??? Bikes and a home for your bikes near trails you love exploring. Maybe fishing too because it’s also a blast. Everything else falls into place. I love riding the foothills, downhill at ski hills like Bogus Basin and Tamarack, and meandering thru the Boise Green Belt. If I could ever influence anyone — bikes and real estate. That’s it. Makes for the happiest of days. I’m not the best mtb gal on the planet, but I’m smiling most of the time.

See you Boise at the @boisemtnbikefestival this Friday at Eagle Bike Park and Saturday @thebasingravitypark @bogusbasin . It’s a good time. There are clinics, mtb demo bikes, vendors with cool gear, and it’ll make you feel a part of this cool mtb and bike community here in Boise.

When you are looking for a home - please for the love of real estate read your HOA condo docs or at minimum (but preferably all of them) your HOA design guidelines. This will affect your happiness and your pocket book. In this case, second floor units here are approved for carpet. Ask questions about the allowable flooring types and read the fine print.

It’s the subtle details that stand out to me.

I love when builders incorporate natural wood into modern homes. Subtle exposed beams and warm wood tones can make such a difference without taking away from the clean, contemporary design.

I think we throw the word luxury around a little too much in real estate.

To me, luxury isn’t necessarily a million-dollar kitchen or a massive house. It’s being able to finish work, grab your mountain bike, get a few laps in, and still make it home for a swim and a sunset.

That’s what I love about what they’re creating at Valnova in Eagle, Idaho.

And before you write it off as another expensive development, you might be surprised by the variety of homes and price points here. There are several builders to choose from, and not every home comes with a million-dollar price tag.

I’m also not going to sell you on amenities that haven’t been built yet. There’s more coming, but I’d rather show you what’s actually here today.

I’ve spent quite a bit of time exploring Valnova, and if you’re curious about living here, I’d be happy to take you around and show you the different options.

Ever been minding your business at work and accidentally created a geyser?

Well, that happened in 1937 in Soda Springs, Idaho.
While drilling for naturally heated water for a bathhouse, workers accidentally tapped into an underground supply of pressurized, carbonated mineral water.

And just like that, Soda Springs had a geyser!

The story gets even better. Local legend says the geyser was blamed for disrupting Yellowstone’s Old Faithful, and the town was asked to shut it down. Whether that was actually possible is another story!

Today, the Soda Springs Captive Geyser erupts every hour on the hour, right in downtown Soda Springs. And it’s free to visit!

Just another reason to take the scenic route through southeastern Idaho.

Fun fact: Soda Springs, Idaho, was once known as Beer Springs!

Early trappers thought the naturally carbonated mineral water tasted like beer, and the springs became a popular stop along the Oregon Trail.

After watching a documentary about Soda Springs, we had to try it ourselves!

We stopped at Hooper Springs Park, just north of downtown, where the water is naturally carbonated by underground carbon dioxide (CO₂) and contains minerals like calcium, magnesium, sodium, and bicarbonate. Nature’s very own sparkling mineral water.

We brought our cups, gave it a try, and honestly, it was pretty good once you got used to it. Some even add koolaid or crystal lite packets.

If you’re exploring southeastern Idaho, this is such a fun stop with some fascinating history.

Would you try it?

Ps. Don’t ask me how I know, but if you aren’t used to high concentration of minerals in your water maybe less is more. I drank a lot of the water.

Every millennial’s Oregon Trail dream.

After watching a documentary about Soda Springs, Idaho, and its naturally carbonated mineral water, we had to see it for ourselves!

Historic Octagon Spring flavored with muskrat, and Blake wanting to sample the spring water.
Clearly, he learned nothing from The Oregon Trail computer game.

All jokes aside, what a fun little piece of Idaho history! Definitely worth the road trip.

Follow for our visit to Hooper Spring (I made sure it was very UP stream) and to the famous Geyser. It was a great stop and we highly recommend.

We stopped into Wissel Farms in Nampa, ID to pick out our two carving pumpkins. I’ll let you guys know when they open up their veggie club for next seasons harvest. But for now that’s a wrap! 10 weeks of the bests produce! The stand is still open for your pumpkin, produce, and Idaho made things like pies, ceramics, fresh cut flowers all from local makers and farmers.

Supporting local is one of the best things you can do for the Idaho community. And there are so many small farms and cattle ranches etc in the Treasure Valley. What’s your favorite? I’m taking notes since getting our little farm box every week made us so happy.
