ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

Born in Istanbul at 1974 CCK completed both their Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in the Painting Department at the Faculty of Fine Arts at Marmara University. In their artistic practice, the artist predominantly employs natural objects and focuseson socio-political, geopolitical, and biopolitical formations through the lens of political philosophy. In their installations, CCK transforms the viewer from a passive observer into an active participant in the experience, while their canvases construct a cinematographic narrative that stages the stories of wars and genocides. Since 1996, CCK’s works havebeen featured in numerous national and internationalexhibitions and have received various awards. Theartist currently continues their practice in their studioin Istanbul.

ARTWORK DESCRIPTION

In the artwork, there is a rising voice against war andgenocide, references to sacralized symbols andpolitical discourses, and, through personal choices, a rebellion against the sense of belonging, completionand divisions, and in short, against the contemporaryworld order that is in fact, not “new” at all.
While the capsules invite the art viewer to a fragileconfrontation, the marble pedestal on which they rest also recalls the burden of war passed on to the viewerand to future generations. The work the expression, in a new and different language, of what has beensaid and can be said about the banalization andsacralization of evil.

*Escape from Evil
It is a phrase used by Hannah Arendt in her book “Eichmannin Jerusalem: A Report on the Banality of Evil ” Arendt, linksthe ordinary nature of evil, which does not require a metaphysical source in order to exist, to the inability of masses composed of “normal” people to distinguish betweengood and evil, and to a lack of judgment.

Hannah Arendt 'in, “Eichmann in Jerusalem: A report on the banality of evil” kitabında kullandığı bir ifadedir. Arendt,
varolmak için metafizik bir kaynağa ihtiyaç duymayan kötülüğün sıradan niteliğini, "normal" insanlardan oluşan kitlelerin
iyiyle kötü arasında bir ayrım yapamamasına ve yargı yoksunluğuna bağlar.

Elgiz Müzesi’nde 18.si düzenlenen Geleneksel Teras Sergisi’nde sanat izleyicisi ile buluştuk. Harika bir organizasyondu. Emeklerinden dolayı tüm Elgiz ailesine @elgizmuseum ve açılışa gelerek beni onurlandıran dostlarıma teşekkür ediyorum.
Sergide yer alan tüm sanatçı arkadaşlarımı da, birbirinden değerli ve anlamlı çalışmalarından dolayı kutluyorum.

Elgiz Müzesi’nin 18. Geleneksel Teras Sergisi açılışında yer almaktan büyük bir onur duydum. Bu serginin bir parçası olmak, sanat yoluyla ortak bir deneyimi paylaşmak, her sanatçının emeği ve tüm çalışanların katkısıyla mümkün oldu.
