A woman came to me in her mid-40s. Successful on paper. Completely stuck underneath it.She’d been carrying anger for so long it had become part of her personality a wall she built so early she couldn’t remember life without it. She wasn’t broken. She was just protected. Overprotected.We didn’t talk about her problems for hours. We went straight to what was underneath them.Session by session, the wall came down. Not all at once but enough that she could feel, for the first time in years, what was actually hers versus what she’d been carrying for other people, other pain, other chapters of her life.That’s what six months of this work does. I became the person I tell my clients not to be….I need to be honest with you about something.The last few weeks, I went through it. I won’t get into all the details, but I needed time — real time — to transition through what I was carrying. It cracked something open in me. It made me look at my life and ask: am I actually living it, or am I just managing it?Because here’s the truth: I love this work. I love holding space, I love the depth of it. But somewhere in the last few weeks, I noticed I had quietly isolated myself. I stopped dancing. I stopped making time for my friends. I was so deep in doing that I forgot how to just be the version of me that feels most alive.And I caught myself. Because I tell my clients this all the time I even give it a name, I call it an energy shock. It’s homework I give people when their energy feels stagnant: go do something spontaneous, something that has nothing to do with your routine, just to move the stuck energy in your life.So this week, I gave myself the same assignment I give everyone else.I danced. I laughed with the people I love. I let myself feel joy without earning it first. I gave myself full permission to live again.And it reminded me of something I think a lot of us forget especially the ones who are always holding space for everyone else. Healing isn’t only found in the hard conversations and the deep inner work. Sometimes it’s found in a night out. In movement. In remembering who you are underneath all the roles you carry.So if you’re reading this this is your sign too.You don’t need another breakthrough right now. You just need permission.Go live again.
