Bringing Cinematographers together and opening up their minds and vision to see beyond the present.

POSTS STORIES REELS

Exactly a week ago, I was in a room that taught me how to approach my craft.

It was a 3-day boot camp, but the first day was like 72hours, filled with unlearning, relearning and learning.

Each day came with its own activities and insights, all shaping what I’m becoming; a cinematographer.🤭

Thank you @cineconnect.ng @ed_mediahouse for putting this together.

And to the facilitators, @chiomafakorede @olerephotography @mr_bahlo @theseunfakorede, and @iambabatunmise , thank you. The insights you shared can’t be bought, they can only be passed down by those who have gone through the process and have gathered real experience. by @cineconnect.ng

Had such a great and insightful time with @cineconnect.ng and @ed_mediahouse

This is one of the experiences I will never forget.

Day 2 at @cineconnect.ng moved from conversations to real practice.

@ed_davidofficial took us straight into hands-on sessions learning how to properly set up and balance a camera gimbal.
Not just mounting it but understanding balance, control, movement and the small adjustments that make shots feel intentional.

From there, we practiced different camera movements and took turns executing the shots ourselves.
It made me realize that smooth movement is not luck, it’s discipline and repetition.

Later in the night, we had a powerful session with @theseunfakorede and that conversation stayed with me.

A few things he shared really stood out to me:

Start as early as you can.
Excuses are good reasons for bad results.
If you are not excellent at a low level, it is difficult to become excellent at a higher level.
Don’t expose yourself prematurely.
And success is not overnight — it is the product of overwork.

That session was a strong reminder that growth is intentional and timing matters.

Honestly, Day 2 shifted something again for me.

Still learning. Still building. 🎬

Day 1 @cineconnect.ng by @ed_mediahouse

Some things I learnt from these sessions:

@chiomafakorede spoke about positioning for global opportunities. Global positioning is how you think, present, price, and move. As a creative, your confidence has to be 100%

2nd speaker @olerephotography spoke about discipline. You always have to keep learning new things as a creature, and you also need a team that will support your growth.

3rd speaker @mr_bahlo spoke about delivery. Clients don't just pay for quality, you need to understand the art of delivering your work.

4th speaker @iambabatunmise spoke about the power of relationships which is one thing you can not underestimate as a creative.

This was a wonderful session and I am looking forward to day 2😌 by @cineconnect.ng

Day 1 at @cineconnect.ng by @ed_mediahouse felt like 3 days already.😍😂

Yesterday wasn’t just about cameras.
It was about how creatives think, position, price, relate and stay relevant.

Some things that stayed with me:.

@chiomafakorede session helped me understand that global positioning is not about being outside the country.
It starts from mindset.
How you present yourself, how you price your value and how confidently you show up before people that matter.

2nd speaker, @olerephotography made something very clear, ‘people don’t really pay attention to your story until results start speaking’
Failure is part of the journey, but the goal is to fail forward.
He also reminded us to properly structure and value our gadgets because they are part of our identity as professionals.

3rd speaker, @mr_bahlo emphasized something simple but powerful DELIVERY.
Fast delivery is part of what positions a creative beyond the local space.
He also said that, if we want global relevance, we must start showing up in global events and platforms.

Our 4th speaker, @ed_davidofficial broke down pricing in a very practical way.
Listing your gadgets, separating pre-production, production and post-production properly helps you avoid undervaluing your work when dealing with clients.

5th speaker, @iambabatunmise spoke about relationships in a way that stayed with me.
Your relevance is strongly connected to the associations you keep.
And one statement I won’t forget:
“there is no humility in playing small”
Always think about what you are bringing to the table, not just what you want to take from it.

@chiomafakorede ended the day by reminding us that our health as creatives determines how far we can go.
That part was necessary
She also took us on some breathing exercises.

Honestly… it’s just Day 1.
But perspective is already shifting.
