“On 21” A Nonfiction Short Film by Kirana Rafli
directed, filmed, edited, acted by me 😩
-
this one woman show non-fiction film is about my personal story of turning 21, in an estranged country, away from family. 21 is supposed to be fun, but why wasn’t it, for me? this one is for all the babies who travelled so far from home to pursue education and our parents’ dreams. i hope all my friends who are in this position can relate!
*ALL SMOKING RELATED SCENE IS FAKE IN THIS FILM* 🤓
it consists of personal audio messages from my family (mom, dad, sister, nephew). the process was so stressful, i was so insecure it wouldn’t work out. i only had 24 hours bc i was renting the equipments from school. the storyline also shift throughout the editing process. however, i’m so glad i made it and it looks good enough to me to share. someday when i have the courage to share the entirety of my work, i will share this one!
