The sound of venezuelan music was resonating as friends and guests joined with percussion instruments the lead singer who happened to be my mother, the venezuelan visual artist Mirna SALAMANQUÉS (1943-2020). This integration would make up a fantastic musical ensemble that transformed the whole experience into a joyful and interactive moment to be remembered. Here one of our american friends, MORT, playing the tambourine along to a venezuelan song. by @cinemalianza

In SANTA MONICA, CALIFORNIA the sound of venezuelan music was spreading and it became a classic when my mother, the venezuelan visual artist Mirna SALAMANQUÉS (1943-2020) and the whole TROUPE was invited to share or even when we would cook for our friends, venezuelan food. Our friends homes' ended up as joints of venezuelan folk music and they would welcome the whole troupe and even friends of ours. Jam sessions would start up after the meal with a variety of percussion instruments that were distributed among guests and friends. Everybody would join and the lyrics of the songs were translated so everyone would understand a little about typical venezuelan situations mentioned in our songs filled of traditional images and hard to translate words that would bring up a lot of laughters and humour. by @cinemalianza

The music never stopped!
Where ever we would go, at my best friend's place right off the Sunset Strip we would gather for the best jam sessions with friends from all over, UCLA classmates and musician friends who would play different instruments such as saxophone, guitar and we would add the latin percussion and we would also start the venezuelan songs repertoire as a special treat for a fantastic group of friends.

At the FRAMAURO Art Gallery in LaCASTELLANA, Caracas took place the group show "Venezuelan artists from Paris in Caracas" . This major effort displayed the work of 25 venezuelan artists living and working in Paris. At the opening, gallery owners and the curatorial team had the visit of several personnalities from the cultural scene. Among the guests and visitors, 2 well known journalists at the time, Carlos RANGEL and Sofia IMBER viewed the artshow and my mother, the venezuelan visual artist Mirna SALAMANQUÉS (1943-2020) welcomed them as the main promoter and liaison attaché of this major undertaking.
Once in her weekly column named "Criticandito" published in Caracas' daily newspaper "La ESFERA", Sofia IMBER on october 1967 commented that at the POLO & BOT Art Gallery was showing young artist, Mirna SALAMANQUÉS her drawings, photo-montages and paintings. Among the painters who attented the opening was recognized artist and sculptor Alejandro OTERO. He manifested particular interest in the photo-montages and collages, and he got particularly drawn by one where a picture of the moon was in. IMBER was so surprised and wrote that he kept repeating: But look! It's the moon.
The journalist that had accompanied the artist to see SALAMANQUÉS ' artworks couldn't believe how fantastic the titles were, she even mentioned some examples. And as an end to the note she wrote:
I think that this opinion coming from Alejandro OTERO is one of the greatest praise that Mirna could receive. . .
IMBER had known SALAMANQUÉS since her early years as a self taught artist who started up in Caracas and now SALAMANQUÉS herself was the organiser of a major art show where she displayed works from her peers and friends from the Paris art scene. Some had not exhibited in Caracas since many years. And here it was a great effort bringing together these selection of works presented by well known french art historian Gaston DIEHL and venezuelan art critic Roberto GUEVARA. by @cinemalianza

Opening night of a one man show of the venezuelan visual artist Mirna SALAMANQUÉS (1943-2020) in New York City. The pieces displayed under the name of ASSEMBLAGES had a powerful visual language and what added the magic of the evening were SALAMANQUÉS' stories about each one of the paintings. American art collectors' from out of town showed great interest in the artworks. Fascinating large size ASSEMBLAGES on wood revealed Cosmic world and SpaceAge structures that launched ideas, projects and the imagination of the viewers. The excitement and fascination opened up the possibility of entering important Private Collections and even an acquisition was proposes for an american museum. Here are members of the Board of directors of the Philadelphia Museum of Art listening to SALAMANQUÉS description of some of her creative processus developed to put together the ASSEMBLAGES. by @cinemalianza

Une expérience inoubliable ! by @cinemalianza
