Even if today is a holiday -at least in some parts of the world- this year is different from others.
Holidays are the perfect opportunity to show love to the world, act collectively as a society and show solidarity to those that need it. It's the time to think of others more than ourselves.
So happy holidays to everyone that is celebrating, stay safe and protect your friends and families.

Another one for my night shots series.
Shooting in the night, colors change and shapes become more mysterious.
Rain exaggerates everything and voilà:
My favorite time to shoot.

Many more to come ;)

So I do everything I can to avoid masks in my photography, especially white ones. White was never my favorite color to photograph as it tends to blow out.
I also feel that masks give an ephemeral representation of reality, one that comments mainly on this specific historical period and I want my work to go past this.
However, the mask is indeed a sign of our times, and one of our tasks as photographers is to capture reality as it is now.
So I basically don't know 🙄

Today I was thinking about the term "Storytelling". This is a term we often use to describe a good photo. A good photographer is the one that "tells a story".

But is this ALL that it takes to have a good photo?

Personally I don't see my photos as stories. My work is mostly about a passing feeling, a mood, an impression.
A story has a beginning, a middle and an end. Photography is limited in that way. And I keep my storytelling for my film work, the scripts I am writing etc.

This is not to say that a photo CANNOT tell a story. There are amazing photographers out there that are telling stories with their photos.

A glowing example is Philippe, known as @2shadok. His work is excellent, simple, honest and meaningfull. Check him out.
(Dude, this photo is for you, t'as posté une photo dans la même rue il y a qqs semaines lol)

Here is a little attempt towards dance night photography. I rarely see dance photos shot in the night in a cinematic way, and this is something I would like to go more into.

....when we will be once more allowed to go out in the night 😅

Here is a photo I particulary like, I call this "Noir Expressionism", which is a play on words on my two favorite genres in cinema, film noir and german expresionism.

I've been a fan of these genres since my early 20's and this is a style I am trying to incorporate in my photography, sometimes more, sometimes less.

Giving this high contrast feeling without actually turning the contrast high, strong blacks, punchy but soft texture. These are more or less my editing goals every time. Not saying that I always suceed, but at least I try 😅

What do you think about this one?

Blue or Green? What do you think?

20 years ago when I started studying film, (yes, I am SO old😅), I was a big fan of the blue tint in my visuals.

As I go older I start to appreciate the color green, to
the point that I mostly always now give a small green
undertone in my photos.

So here is the same photo as I originally edited it, and
the same with a blue undertone.

First one is my choice, but I am curious to hear your thoughts.
