A nearly three-hour documentary just did something documentaries haven’t done in theatres in years. It got bigger in its second weekend. You Can See Everything opened with more than 2,000 sellouts, with audiences under 35 leading the way. But they weren’t the only ones showing up. Theatres have been seeing moviegoers of all generations turning out together. Thank you to our member theatres @classiccinemas @majesticbaytheatres @ultrastarsd @ultrastar and @belcourttheatre for sharing what you’re seeing on the ground. That’s the story Beyond the Box Office. by @cinemaunitedofficial
Maybe the antidote to the endless scroll is the big screen? For @maya_hawke, going to the movies means putting the phone away and getting out of your own head for a couple of hours, sitting in the dark with a room full of strangers who are all watching the same story you are. We could all use more of that. 🎥 @hotones / @firstwefeast by @cinemaunitedofficial
@jayduplass recently took his Gen Z kids to see Best in Show with a packed Saturday night crowd at @vidiots and the experience completely changed the way they saw the movie. He saw that same magic at a screening of “I Play Rocky” where the audience was laughing so hard they were missing lines of dialogue. It’s the kind of moviegoing experience you just can’t recreate anywhere else. Catch Jay in “I Play Rocky on the big screen this November with a crowd! by @cinemaunitedofficial
What gets horror fans off the couch and into a theatre? At Rutgers Cinema, it was a pair of identical twins. At our Fall Summit, Alex DelVecchio, General Manager of @rutgerscinema, told the “Marketing Horror Movies to Audiences” panel about his favorite campaign ever. Two of his staff are identical twins, and for Smile 2 they practiced “the smile” all summer. He joked that they had the best job security in the building, because he needed them in late September. When the film opened, one twin stood in the hallway grinning at everyone who walked past. Then you turned the corner into the theatre and her sister was there in costume, doing the exact same thing. People freaked out. Alex thinks the videos got around 140,000 shares that weekend, and Smile 2 had a great run at his theatre. Horror is better in a full room. Apparently it’s even better when the hallway is in on it too. 🎃 by @cinemaunitedofficial
Sean Baker recently took a road trip visiting movie theatres on both coasts. In eastern Pennsylvania he found screens that have been running for almost 100 years, and owners with real “pride in the actual space.” Out West, filmmakers are using @gardenacinema for their own private screenings and festivals. His take: “It’s all about word of mouth.” So here’s some word of mouth: go see something at your local theatre this week, and bring a friend! by @cinemaunitedofficial
For the second installment of our Cinema Investment Stories series, we’re heading to Thailand, where Major Cineplex is investing in technology, sustainability, and the next generation of moviegoers. Across its network, Major Cineplex has introduced 200 laser projectors, expanded to 23 Kids Cinemas, and brought its “Cinema Classroom” program to 81 schools. At its newly renovated Central Pinklao location in Bangkok, every auditorium now features laser projection, alongside a brand-new Kids Cinema designed to make the theatrical experience even more memorable for young audiences. It’s another example of how exhibitors are continuing to evolve the big-screen experience and invest in the audiences of tomorrow. by @cinemaunitedofficial
That’s a wrap on Ohio Goes to the Movies. More than 300 screenings brought audiences into historic theatres and communities together across the state.

For 250 days, Ohio’s movie theatres put homegrown talent in the spotlight, celebrating Ohioans on screen and behind the camera as a Signature Event of America 250-Ohio. Our own Andrew Stewart was there for the Grand Finale.
Congratulations to the entire Ohio Goes to the Movies team and to every theatre that helped make it happen. by @cinemaunitedofficial
The next generation of theatre concessions is all about the experience. At this year’s Entertainment Food & Beverage Association’s Concession & Hospitality Expo, @cinemacon Director of Operations Matt Shapiro saw one idea come through loud and clear: the guest experience is becoming the main event. From grab-and-go concepts to reimagined lobby spaces, theatres are finding new ways to make every part of the visit feel worth leaving home for. Because for today’s moviegoers, especially younger audiences, the experience matters just as much as the movie. See you in Detroit in 2027! by @cinemaunitedofficial
“OBSESSION was a catalyst for people to go to the movies, which is deeply important to me.” Oscar-nominated filmmaker, theatre owner, and Cinema United Filmmaker Leadership Council member Jason Reitman reflects on the theatrical phenomenon around Curry Barker’s OBSESSION and thanks Barker on behalf of cinema owners and moviegoers everywhere. Reitman compared the audience’s OBSESSION obsession to another unforgettable moviegoing moment: when audiences packed theatres to experience Steven Spielberg’s Jaws on the big screen in the 1970s. There’s nothing like discovering a film together, in a theatre, with an audience. by @cinemaunitedofficial
Introducing Cinema Investment Stories: an ongoing series highlighting the theatre reinvestment stories featured in our 2026 Cinema Investment Report. First up is Emagine Parker in Parker, Colorado. Northwoods Theatre Group, an Emagine Entertainment affiliate, took an existing 32,000-square-foot theatre and rebuilt it as the company’s first location west of the Mississippi. It now has heated recliners, EMX auditoriums, Dolby Atmos sound, a bigger food and beverage bar, and self-ordering. The transformation also put people to work with construction firm Amcon spending seven months on site with 100 workers helping bring Emagine Parker to life. Parker Mayor Joshua Rivero called the theatre “the gem that it should be” for the local community. Follow along as Cinema Investment Stories spotlights more theatres, builders, and communities from across the report. by @cinemaunitedofficial
Where do the people who run movie theatres go to compare notes? Los Angeles, every fall, for Cinema United’s Fall Summit. Four days of studio lot tours, early looks at upcoming films, educational sessions, and plenty of time to talk shop. Our favorite review: “I’ve met so many theatre owners... now I have a new friend group of Rocky Mountain theatre owners.” See you in 2027! by @cinemaunitedofficial
