God is faithful to His promises. I had the joy of seeing two rainbows recently, and I always remember God’s promise in Genesis. I also think of how God is always faithful to what He promised His people in His Word. I’m glad to serve a God who is powerful and whose assurance means perfect security in His will for me.

God continues to send me help when I need it most. My father has been in heaven for four weeks, and a cry for help often accompanies the heaviness I feel. God uses His people (my husband, children, family, and others) to offer words and actions of comfort. I’m eternally grateful.

. I am finding a lot of comfort in the Bible. Every time someone reads or shares a Bible passage about God’s comfort to those who mourn, it benefits my soul. God’s words carry greater weight in the mourning heart than any other words. All words of comfort are good, but God’s words always supersede human words because of their eternal value, power, and assurance of good.

Do you commit to the words of the Bible? When I read commandments such as “forgive others,” I say yes. I commit to treating others with love, no matter how I am being treated. These decisions do not make me better than anyone else. They simply reveal my commitment to the God of the Bible. He said, “If you love me, you will obey me.” I want to be found in total obedience to God.

I’m grateful for the year that was. Even in difficult times, God was amazing. As I embark on a new year, I am reflecting on who God wants me to be. Goal setting is part of the stewardship of the gifts and talents God gave me, and the wise thing is to pray before setting goals. Committing to God’s vision for a year is good. I invite you to do the same: pray before setting goals, listen to God’s voice and vision for you, and run with whatever He gives you.

I’m teaching Judges 4-5 at a women’s Bible study pretty soon. I find much delight and joy when I study the Old Testament. Every inch of God’s Word is important for the believer. The joy of studying the Bible happens when we realize that the love of God for His people knows no boundaries, difficulty, or restraint. God is still fighting and winning battles for His children. “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.” — Isaiah 55:8-9 (NKJV)

My father, the Rev. Jose Magalhaes Furtado, went to be with Jesus early one September morning. I am sad to live in a world without him, yet I rejoice in the immense blessing of being his. Today, I want to share what he taught me about waiting on the Lord.

My grandmother, my dad and uncles accepted Christ one ordinary day in their neighborhood. Jesus transformed our family’s trajectory. The Bible revolutionized how my dad saw the world. Taking God at His word, he chose to walk with Him, deeply mindful of everyone around him who needed the transforming power of the Gospel.

In the 1960s, as a young man in Brazil, my father dreamed of coming to the United States. A missionary friend advised against it, citing the intense racial and political turmoil in the American South at the time. Instead of growing bitter, my dad prayed for better. He kept living for God in Brazil, and God blessed him with a wife and five children.

While my dad waited, he prayed and stayed attentive to every opportunity God sent. He was quick to share those blessings: whether a job, a book, a word of wisdom, or a plate of food. He shared Christ in practical ways while he waited.

I am his second-born, and the first child to come to the States to earn my degrees. He often reminded me to always give God the glory for that gift. When I graduated, I was honored to buy my parents’ tickets to attend. My dad was pure joy, laughing softly as he said, “To think it was once challenging to pay for English lessons. Look at what God has done!”

My dad taught me that waiting on God is never stagnant. Prayer precedes the waiting, and faithful action follows. If you are waiting on the Lord today, don’t lose hope. God sees you, cares for you, and elevates your path to His.

PRAYER: Thank You, Lord, for those who lived for You with all their might. Your plans are always better. We trust You, wait on You, and praise You always. Amen. by @cintialistenbee
