We snapped this photo this morning before heading into the mountains to chase bulls. While sitting in the aspens, listening for bulls and trying to stay patient, I looked back at this photo.

My first thought was, “Man, there are probably 200 Pope and Young whitetails and around 25 Boone and Crockett bucks taken with a bow among this group!”

The best part, though, is that we’re all back at ground zero, starting from scratch when it comes to elk hunting. For two of these guys, it’s their first elk hunt ever!

For seasoned whitetail bowhunters, elk hunting brings back the excitement we felt when we first started chasing big, mature whitetails. One thing I know for certain: As long as the good Lord keeps me healthy and able, I won’t miss a September in these mountains! by @ciscoheath

There are hunters, and then there are killers.

A killer is someone who, through countless hours in the field over many years—and plenty of mistakes—develops a system and style that leads to consistent success. They can locate mature bucks, figure out their tendencies, and put together a plan that ultimately results in an arrow finding its mark.

Most killers are driven by their whitetail addiction, constantly chasing the opportunity to relive that experience time and time again. As the years pass, they naturally end up with walls covered in giant whitetails that most hunters can only dream of.

In this episode, im joined by Heath Cisco @ciscoheath of Whitetail Addictions. A dedicated family man and diehard hunter who’s built his life around both the woods and what matters most at home. We dive deep into hunting efficiency, the discipline of knowing when to move in for the kill, and why family should always remain the #1 priority. Heath shares his perspective on the current state of hunting in Ohio, whether we’ve already passed the best years and what the future may hold for passionate whitetail hunters. This is more than just a hunting conversation — it’s about balance, legacy, and keeping the fire alive both in the woods and at home.
