Hello there!

My name is Cissa and I’m an Aussie travel creator currently living in England.

I use my little corner of social media to share all about my travels including travel tips, itinerary ideas, and unique experiences and places. I started my journey as a travel photographer – so expect a sprinkling of destination photos as well!

Snapshots from Tetbury.

Tetbury is a market town within the beautiful Cotswolds region of England. It is a quieter town (compared to the bigger name villages) in the southern Cotswolds, and is no less beautiful than the more popular tourist towns of the region.

Here are a few things to do in Tetbury:

✨ Chipping Steps
A cobbled set of steps leading up toward the town centre, lined with 17th Century weavers cottages.

✨ Market House
A working historic market place and heritage listed building with eye-catching yellow walls.

✨ St Mary’s Church
A beautiful church surrounded by very peaceful grounds that come alive with flowers in spring.

✨ Westonbirt Arboretum
Located 3 miles from Tetbury centre, this arboretum has over 2500 different tree and shrub species to see.

✨ Highgrove Gardens
Located two miles south of Tetbury centre, Highgrove is a residence of King Charles and the gardens are open to visitors between April and September.

So, recently I finished editing my photos from Bibury.

I’d put it off for a while due to a busy schedule and just because I’d taken so, so many. More than I took in any other Cotswolds village (even Castle Combe!) and I felt a little overwhelmed looking at the number I had to sort through.

A few days ago I finally finished sorting and processing the whole folder and, my goodness, these photos from our very last evening there are just delightful.

The beginning of the golden hour on this night was nothing spectacular. Soft light, blue skies with some clouds. Nothing much, just peaceful and enjoyable.

I remember when I started to see the first hints of pink coming out. Most people were staring out over the trout farm because at that time, that’s where it was the most vivid.

But I saw a hint of pink in the other direction over Arlington Row and power-walked my way over after grabbing just a few shots across the trout farm. And goodness me was I rewarded, by the time I got there the pinks had really come alive over the beautiful old cottages.

A sunset that won’t be forgotten anytime soon.

A scene straight from a storybook.

This is the north door of St Edward’s Church in the beautiful Cotswolds village of Stow-on-the-Wold. It’s often called the Tolkien Door as it is rumoured to have inspired the Doors of Durin in The Lord of the Rings.

And you can see why. Flanked by ancient yew trees, it’s tucked away behind the market square and looks just like a fairy tale.

It’s easy to miss if you don’t know what to look for, so here’s how you can visit:

📍 The door is located in Stow-on-the-Wold, Gloucestershire

✨ From the north of the Market Square, look for a narrow alley called Church Alley beside the Stow Lodge Hotel and take the first right into the churchyard.

🕰️ The doors are popular and can get busy, the best time to visit for good light and quieter crowds is in the early morning.

Moments in England’s prettiest village.

Castle Combe is often said to be the prettiest village in England and I can honestly say that it doesn’t disappoint.

The wide central market square surrounded by narrow roads side-to-side with stone cottages, the babbling brook passing under the stone bridge and the grand old architecture of the village manor.

I enjoyed every moment of my time here.

Chatsworth House in a winter wonderland.

Looking back on one of the most beautiful experiences of the winter just gone.

This morning after snow had fallen and frost clung to the trees, the grounds of Chatsworth looked as though they were part of a snow globe.
