Hello everyone,

I hate to ask, but I am in dire need of mutual aid for my cat, Kilala. At the beginning of February this year, Kilala started to have odd behavioral symptoms such as viciously attacking her lower back and tail, twitching along her spine, and touch aversion. I could tell she was in pain due to her not wanting me to pet her, pick her up, and a harsh change in her meow. I took her straight away to the vet and we contemplated what was going on.. leg or back injury, pinched spinal nerve, arthritis, or feline hyperesthesia syndrome.

We put Kilala on a weeks worth of pain medication, but even still her symptoms only slightly decreased. I brought her into the vet once more for a sedated exam, bloodwork, and radiographs. Upon taking the x-rays, Kilala was diagnosed with severe hip dysplasia which is only treatable with surgery. The only other option is to give her pain medication until she would need to be euthanatized. Unfortunately, the medications aren’t having much of an effect at this point. She is currently on Gabapentin twice a day and an arthritis injection called Solensia.

Luckily, I was able to get ahold of a surgeon who is willing to preform the FHO surgery on Kilala. He agreed that her hip dysplasia is over 50% in severity and she needs to make this procedure done as soon as possible. I now have her surgery scheduled on May 5th.

To be honest, I am in no position to afford this surgery on my own. I currently am the sole provider for myself, my partner, and three animals, including Kilala. Any help is appreciated, even if that is just spreading her story.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. I greatly appreciate it and I know Kilala would too if she could understand. ❤️🐱
