Everyone Village is more than a shelter; it’s a community built around dignity and belonging. Residents have privacy, stability, and space to make their unit feel like home. They grow food, share meals, and build skills that help them thrive. Everyone Village also has 10 medical respite shelters where people discharged from the hospital can continue healing surrounded by support.

Inspired by this model, the City is exploring adding a new Micro Village Housing type to Eugene’s land use code, which would allow development of small units clustered on a site with shared amenities to increase affordable housing options in Eugene. City Council is considering Micro Village Housing as part of Urban Growth Strategies Adoption Package 1. Share your thoughts at the October 19, 2026, at 5:30pm Public Hearing at City Hall. by @cityofeug

💧 We’re at Clean Water University! 🎓

This week, more than 800 fifth-graders from 14 Springfield and Eugene schools are taking part in Clean Water University, hosted by the Metropolitan Wastewater Management Commission. As part of their STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) education, students are learning about water in our area. Through eight hands-on activities and a tour of the Regional Wastewater Treatment Facility, they’re exploring how drinking water gets to their homes, what happens to wastewater after it goes down the drain, and how stormwater works.

To run the activities, Springfield staff are teaming up with water professionals from the City of Eugene, Lane County, Springfield Utility Board, Rainbow Water District, Eugene Water & Electric Board, and other local partners.

We love seeing students light up as they discover how our local water systems work! 💡🎉

More housing and jobs in places near transit and access to goods and services. This is a common and consistent desire we hear from community members.

As a part of Urban Growth Strategies Adoption Package 2, Eugene is proposing to designate two Climate-Friendly Areas (CFAs). Eugene will plan for these areas to have:

•	Higher-density housing, jobs, and public services

•	Improvements that make it safer for people to walk, bike, and take transit

•	Strategies to avoid or minimize displacement

CFAs are one strategy for building a more compact city where all people can access goods and services close to home.

The Eugene Planning Commission will review the proposed changes to designate CFAs, including zoning and land use code changes, and make a recommendation to decision-makers.

Save the date for a joint public hearing on November 10, 2026.
