It’s Public Natural Gas Week Oct. 4-10. 🔥 Meet Bo, one of our Natural Gas crew leaders, as he takes you behind the scenes of his truck — showing the tools that connect homes to the gas main, the gear that keeps crews safe, and the “giant yellow slinkies” (spoiler: not for hula-hooping!).
Watch to the end for the best line of the day: “I may be hot, but I don’t want to be on fire.” 😆
This week, we’re proud to celebrate the hardworking crews who keep Winder’s natural gas system running safely and efficiently every day.

🔥 Happy Retirement, Chief Whiting! 🚒
After 34 years of service with the City of Winder Fire Department, Fire Chief Matt Whiting is officially retiring.
Chief Whiting began his career with the department as a part-time firefighter and went on to serve nearly 15 years as Fire Chief. During his career, the department grew from just a handful of full-time firefighters to more than 40, while expanding its capabilities and services to meet the needs of a growing community.
But when Chief Whiting was asked last year what legacy he hoped to leave, his answer wasn't about equipment, stations or titles. He said he simply wanted people to know that he cared about the firefighters, cared about the community and worked to make Winder better.
After 34 years, we think that legacy speaks for itself.
Thank you, Chief Whiting, for your leadership, your service and your commitment to the City of Winder and the Winder Fire Department.
We wish you a long and happy retirement — with plenty of time on the golf course! ⛳ by @cityofwinder
