You probably learned “This Land Is Your Land” in school. But were you taught that Woody Guthrie wrote it amid poverty, displacement, and inequality—or that some of its original verses questioned hunger, private property, and whether America’s promise truly belonged to everyone? We have been singing a protest song without knowing it. That says something about the power of music—and about the history we are taught, softened, or never told. At Still We Stand: Beyond the Peekskill Riots, hear that American roots tradition carried forward by Cole Quest and the City Pickers. Cole—Woody Guthrie’s grandson—is an original songwriter and bandleader in his own right, joined by an exceptional group of bluegrass and roots musicians. Come for the music. Discover the stories behind it. 🎟️ Sunday, September 13, 2026, at 3 PM 📍 Paramount Hudson Valley Theater, Peekskill 🎫 Get your tickets NOW using the link in our bio! Children 12 and under attend free. Discounts are available for seniors and college students. Cole Quest and the City Pickers perform Woody Guthrie’s “Pastures of Plenty”—a song honoring the migrant workers whose labor filled America’s tables. #StillWeStand #ColeQuestAndTheCityPickers #WoodyGuthrie #ThisLandIsYourLand #PaulRobeson by @citypickers
