Did you know CityServe has a Compassion Initiatives Calendar? Throughout the year, we intentionally highlight people and needs that can too easily be overlooked—the exploited, the widow, the prisoner, the hungry, the addicted, the orphan, the poor, the unreached, and more. Each month gives the local Church an opportunity to see the need, pray intentionally, and move toward people with compassion. As August comes to a close, we’re preparing to step into September: THE UNREACHED. “Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations...” — Matthew 28:19 This September, we’ll also bring awareness to Suicide Prevention Month and National Recovery Month as we continue asking one important question: Who is God calling the Church to move closer to? Stay tuned. September is just the beginning. #CityServe #CompassionInitiatives #TheUnreached #LocalChurch #FaithInAction MakeDisciples by @cityserve_network

A little football, a lot of school spirit, and some great memories! 🏈❤️ Our BC EdCollab students enjoyed a fun evening cheering on the Bakersfield College Renegades, connecting with one another, and experiencing campus life beyond the classroom. Because college is about more than academics. It’s about building friendships, finding community, and creating a sense of belonging! #BCEdCollab #BakersfieldCollege #CityServe #RenegadePride #StudentSuccess by @cityserve_network
October is Pastor Appreciation Month! 💙 At CityServe, we’re blessed to have three incredible pastors serving on our team. Each brings unique gifts, leadership, and a heart for ministry, and today we want to take a moment to honor them! Pastor Kevin | Chief Operating Officer Kevin brings a unique combination of a pastor’s heart and a business-minded approach to leadership. His humility, wisdom, and servant’s heart are evident in the way he leads. He is intentional, steady, and passionate about equipping the local church and investing in people. We’re grateful for the example he sets and the heart behind everything he does. Pastor AJ | Youth Programs Director With 13 years in youth ministry, AJ brings a unique blend of creativity, precision, and leadership to everything he does. He’s meticulous, intentional, and has an incredible ability to bring ideas to life. And if you know AJ, you know he loves his gadgets and finding just the right tool for the job! His passion for the next generation and commitment to excellence make him such a gift to our team. Pastor David | Finance David has been a faithful part of CityServe since its beginning, bringing decades of pastoral wisdom, a servant’s heart, and a deep love for Jesus. He’s soft-spoken by nature, but when it comes to sharing the Gospel, there’s nothing quiet about his passion! He faithfully leads our team in prayer, and his love for the Lord is truly contagious. His gentle spirit, unwavering faith, and heart for people are a blessing to everyone around him. Three pastors. Three unique callings. One shared heart for serving Jesus and His people. We’re grateful for the way each of these men leads, serves, and lives out their faith, both inside and outside the walls of CityServe. Help us show some love to Pastors Kevin, AJ, and David this Pastor Appreciation Month! 💙 #PastorAppreciationMonth #CityServe #ServantLeadership #FaithInAction #LocalChurch by @cityserve_network
Addiction does not erase a person’s worth. Every person battling addiction is made in God’s image, deeply loved, and deserving of compassion and support. Through The Addicted Initiative, CityServe equips the local church to walk alongside those struggling with addiction, offering connection, encouragement, and the hope of Jesus. CityServe Head quarters also provides direct support through our Enhanced Care Management (ECM) services, connecting individuals to care and resources that support recovery and stability. Our on-site Men’s Sobering Center offers a safe, supportive environment for men in need. Because compassion is more than words. It’s meeting people where they are and walking alongside them toward hope and healing. Join us in praying for those battling addiction, their families, and the churches and recovery ministries helping them find freedom. If you are struggling with addiction or know someone who is, please reach out 661-558-4441. #CityServe #TheAddicted #CompassionInitiatives #HopeAndHealing #FaithInAction by @cityserve_network
What a great day for the Church in SoCal! 🙌 Yesterday, 81 pastors, leaders, and church planters gathered in Bakersfield for the city’s first-ever The Lobby event, hosted by Plant SoCal, the church planting arm of the Assemblies of God. At CityServe, we love seeing local churches come together for encouragement, connection, and conversations that strengthen ministry and leadership. We’re grateful for the leaders investing in one another and in the communities they serve. Thank you to Plant SoCal, the speakers, and every team who helped make this gathering possible—from The Collective Church and Real Life to Kern County Teen Challenge. We’re celebrating what God is doing through church planting in Southern California and looking forward to what’s ahead. Here’s to the first of many Lobby gatherings in Bakersfield! #PlantSoCal #TheLobby #ChurchPlanting #ChurchLeadership #LocalChurch by @cityserve_network
YOU. For eight weeks, we’ve been asking one question: What does the local church need? Resources. Relationships. Capacity. Opportunity. Support. Partners. And finally… you. Because equipping the local church takes people who believe in its calling and are willing to invest in it. “…to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up.” Ephesians 4:12 When you give to CityServe, you help equip local churches to meet practical needs, build relationships, and share the hope of Jesus in their communities. The Church has the calling. You can help equip it. Invest in the local church. #WhatDoesTheLocalChurchNeed #InvestInTheLocalChurch #EquipTheChurch #CityServe by @cityserve_network
We were grateful to gather with faith and community leaders in Washington, D.C., for a time of encouragement, connection, and practical equipping. Together with the White House Faith Office, CityServe helped host a gathering centered on the work these leaders are doing in their communities. The Neighborhood to Nations Grant Center also led a training to help faith-based nonprofits strengthen their organizations and pursue resources to serve more people. We left encouraged by the leaders in the room and the work ahead. Thank you to everyone who joined us and to our partners who helped make this gathering possible. From the neighborhood to the nations, we’re better when we work together. #cityserve #neighborhoodtothenations #whitehousefaithoffice #CommunityImpact #strongertogether by @cityserve_network
→ Are you thinking about planting a church? → Are you currently planting? → Are you considering launching another campus? → Thinking about starting a Spanish ministry? → Are you a pastor looking to connect with other like-minded pastors in our city? → Are you serving in church leadership and ready to go to the next level? If you answered YES to any of those questions, The Lobby isn’t a maybe for you. You need to be in the room. The Lobby wasn’t created to be another large conference-style event. It was created to feel more like the conversations that happen in the lobby of the conference—the honest ministry conversations, practical ideas, questions, connections, and relationships that often become some of the most valuable parts of the entire experience. We’re creating an intimate environment with TED Talk-style sessions, live Q&A with speakers, and real opportunities to dialogue with other pastors and leaders in the room. We’ll be talking about church planting, launching campuses, starting Spanish ministries, building strong leadership culture, systems and structure, influencing your city, leading through pain, keeping the church-planting spirit alive, and much more. You’ll hear from pastors and leaders including Rich Guerra, Traco Matthews, Ashley Bello, Caleb Cole, Antonio Reyes, Jason Hanash, and others, with Alberto Bello + Shannon hosting the day. And don’t come alone. Bring some of your team with you. THE LOBBY October 7 | 9 AM–2 PM The Monarch 931 19th St, Bakersfield, CA 93301 Lunch is provided, along with free cold brew and matcha. Click the link in my bio to register. If you have any questions, send me a DM. We’ll see you in The Lobby. by @cityserve_network
