My dad is gone, I can’t put into words how broken I am. My dad was my hero, I am having a real hard time writing this and believing this is real. I have been in a state of absolute dread and despair the past few hours. People deserve to know how great of a father you were. You were the greatest dad anyone could ever ask for, you were my best friend, my mentor, my guidance through life. I am so beyond devastated on how you left this earth. There are so many things I wish I did and said before you went, I wish I called you everyday to talk about our days and your new job. You were just here in Tampa visiting at the end of February. You said you were gonna start visiting more since we have family here and you have more off time with your new job and I was so excited. I’m so proud of you and what you’ve accomplished these last years. I feel as if a massive chunk has been ripped out of my world. You were my best friend, dad. I love you so much I just want to hear your voice again and talk about stupid shit, anything. I need you dad, Im turning 22 and I feel so lost in this word, you were everything to me. I can’t stop replaying every single memory I have of you, you were such a good father and I looked up to you so much. I wish we had more time together, I wanted you to be a grandfather, I wanted you to see me get married. You were hard on me sometimes, yes, but every father should be on their son. As he would say it’s “tough love”. You showed me how to be a man and gentleman. I will carry your name with pride for the rest of my life. I just want to go back to when I was a little kid riding in the car listen to rock music on the way to baseball practice, talk about video games, sports, anything we could think of. This world is too complicated now and I can’t comprehend that you’re not here. You were the most influential figure in my life. I don’t know how I will go on without your help or voice to guide me through these early stages of adulthood. You were always there for me and I just hope you’re in a better place now. I miss you so much, the next few weeks, months and years are going to be hard for me. I just want to give you a hug, I love you dad forever. by @cj.blanken
