Grateful

So many many emotions and special moments this last month n half and as usual not enough pics taken. So many reasons to be sad. So many reasons to be happy. So many reasons to stop. So many reasons to go. Yet so many reasons to be grateful and I am choosing to have an attitude of gratitude.

After almost 25years Nana can finally rest next to Pa. Spending time with family and friends here has been special. I am extremely grateful for every moment I got to spend here.

This whole year I’ve been thinking about death.
Not in a sad way, but in the positive. If you can see it on that light.
The fact that we are here on this rock we call Earth, ants in a vast universe.
That we get to live and breathe. We get to experience. We get to feel.

To know that it all ends for us all … makes me want to live life more fully
To appreciate the time I have now.
To breathe and be grateful that I get to do so.
To experience everything I can.
To feel more deeply and more wholly.

Even with all these thoughts in my head, watching someone I love so much slowly die right in front of my eyes was not easy.
I thought I was strong.
I had said my goodbyes when I arrived here in America, before she forgot who I was.
I said them again on Christmas Eve, feeling the end was near.

I said goodbye on Christmas night,
pulling the blanket back, holding her warm hand one last time,
as she took her final breath.

I feel a great loss that she is no longer here, but I also feel something else.
I feel like my ability and my need to be brave and courageous in all I do and say has increased tenfold.
Dreams and goals are a little bigger and bolder.

I want to be like Icarus and fly to the sun.
I believe the only way I could look at the light, like my Nana did, and smile as she did in that last slide in those final days, is if I fly.
As she did in life. Fly

Mele Davies, born on this day 1942 —
She’s grace, elegance, and love wrapped in one. She carries herself with the kind of class that never goes out of style.
She knows how to party, laugh loud, and light up every room she walks into.
Always grateful for the time we spend together and cant wait to dance again next time I see you without the dirty martini aye haha.

She deserves her own square.. Happy Birthday to my Nana. I think I can confidently say that out of all her grandchildren I was her first favourite and still am. When I think of her all I can think of is Love. Her love for her Family, her love for God and her love for the scriptures. Ever since I was a kid till now she would wake up so early and start reading the Book of Mormon or the bible out loud in Tongan. I remember thinking how annoying it was cause I was trying to sleep. As the years have gone by she still wakes up early and reads. She doesn’t read out loud anymore but almost whispers. Just loud enough if someone was in the room with her they could hear it.. She probably won’t see this but I wanted to have it here as a constant memory. I love her so much and am thankful God has blessed her with the life she continues to live with us all here on earth. This is the most recent pic we have together. So focused on taking the selfie he forgot to smile and ended up looking like Nana in her photos 👀😂. Over here working with a foot that has more than one issue.. living the life most ppl would dream of all the while missing Mum and the kids like crazy.
