Today marks 6 months since my Mom passed away. It’s been the longest 6 months of my Life. I never went more than a week without seeing my Mom. There’s so much I miss about her but one thing I really miss is her smile. That smile I would get after I cooked one of her favorite meals, or that smile she would give me after I get dressed up for a night out. The smile she would give after Praying for me… Telling me “God said it’s already done, You gone be Alright, It is Well”.
Some days when the wave of grief hits, the days seem unbearable BUT GOD is carrying me through.

When God blesses us with a beautiful Family, we’re tasked with loving, caring, and protecting one another. Showing up whenever we can & how we can with no judgement. Extending grace and constantly uplifting each other in Prayer. We all speak of the chosen families we create and I’m blessed for mine too but nothing compares to the family God chose for me. If you’ve been blessed with any form of Family, cherish them. I know we all don’t agree, some just ain’t your cup of tea, and some people just don’t need to be apart of your life. Every situation is different. But some relationships, some families are worth fighting for. I hadn’t been back to Louisiana in almost 8 years, honestly since my Grandmothers Homegoing service. Mainly because life had been lifing for all of us. Between work, going through the Pandemic, experiencing loss, I became a caregiver and even buried my Mom. That was season….BUT GOD, even with all that there were so many blessings, so much growth, and new life over those same years for me and all my family. God allowed me to return home and make unforgettable memories with my loved ones celebrating my Aunt’s surprise 70th birthday party. What a beautiful blessing. Let’s remember to never take the ones that love us for granted. Show up when you can however you can.

Today marks one year since my Mom went from Labor to Reward. To say my heart was broken would be an understatement. Momma I miss you so much. I wasn’t ready to do Life without you. This past year has been filled with so many emotions. It started off cold and lonely. I was lost Momma….but I did what you said and went to the Lord in Prayer. Things began to change. Although the hurt and pain was still there from missing you. God allowed me to experience happiness, love, peace, laughter, & joy. He Blessed me with friends and family who loved on me extra hard. They had me on their mind. They took the time to Pray for me. I’m so glad they prayed. I started to feel hope again. Momma you were right, God keeps His promises.

I’m Blessed for the Mother God gave me. I’m thankful for the relationship my Mom & I had. I’m so grateful for her teachings, love, care, & compassion. I’m honored to be apart of her legacy. When you see me you see her. When you eat my cooking, you’re tasting her love. When you walk up on me and say I smell good & my skin feels smooth you’re experiencing her teachings. When you see my Praise & Worship, you’re seeing the blueprint she left in action. Train up a child in the way he should go & when he is old he will not depart from it. (Proverbs 22:6)

O God is so Good. Thank Him for the growth. I Thank God my Mom is no longer suffering. He decided to give her rest. My relationship with God is stronger than ever and my bonds with Family and Friends are unbreakable. God Thank You for carrying me through. Continue to order my steps. Momma continue to take your rest. Until we meet again beautiful.

First Christmas without my Mom and you couldn’t have told me I would decorate for the Holidays. God is definitely carrying me through giving me strength to continue traditions.
