Six years. Every Thursday. Nine to nine thirty. Week after week.
What started as a conversation has become a ritual, a commitment, a shared moment of reflection with listeners across Canada and beyond. For six years now I have had the privilege of joining @eliasmakos on The Big Five on @cjad800 as a voice invited into the public square to comment on the news, to question assumptions, to amplify perspectives that matter, and to help unpack complexity with clarity and honesty.

I am deeply grateful for the trust Elias and his audience have placed in me. Thank you for allowing me into your mornings, your commutes, your coffees, your conversations.

In a world where the news cycle is fast and the noise is loud, the space we’ve carved out together every Thursday is grounded in thoughtfulness, context, and a desire to understand — not just to react. That is a responsibility I do not take lightly.

Here’s to thoughtful dialogue, to meaningful connection, and to many more Thursdays ahead.

Each week also brings the privilege of sharing the mic with a different guest and today it was the fabulous Sue Montgomery, former Montreal city councillor and former borough mayor of CDN-NDG. She is also a seasoned journalist, radio host, and columnist, known for her sharp analysis, independence of thought, and deep understanding of municipal and social issues.

Over time, these conversations have turned into real connections and lasting friendships with so many guests from different walks of life. We do not always agree, and that is precisely the point. We debate, we respectfully challenge one another, we laugh, and we fully inhabit the moment, something that feels increasingly rare in a polarized climate where many hesitate to voice their views.

Thank you to Elias, to the station, and to you the listeners of course, for making me feel so welcome for the past six years. I’m taking a break for the holidays, back on Thursday, January 15th for more exciting radio shows! by @cjad800

Getting around the greater Montreal region by public transit should be easy but it seems many are having trouble finding their way from the Metro to the new REM. More at CJAD800.com or link in bio.

It's a problem one Concordia University student decided to solve himself. While most students spend their summers enjoying their downtime, graphic design student Dashiell Friesen made other plans.

It all stemmed from his observations that days before the REM was due to open, something was missing, namely more signage explaining to everyone how they could make their way from the Metro to a new electric light-rail station.

"I kept waiting and nothing was added," he said, and so he decided to create his own signs.

"I put them up three days before the REM opening," Friesen said.

The signs took about an hour to design and about $50 to produce, he said, explaining he cut them all himself.
