Absolutely honored to be drafted 3rd overall by the Western Wildcats of @mlw_wiffle. Looking forward to an amazing season.

Couple of shout outs I have to give:
1.) @james_portwood_ for giving me an invite 4 years ago last minute to a league he didn’t even play in. That started the whole journey.
2.) @liamporter_wiffs for allowing me, who he didn’t even know, the chance to play in a professional league and meet a bunch of of great players. I wouldn’t have made it this far without him and all the memories from last summer.
3.) @james_jingles_06 for always asking me to play Wiffle ball even when I didn’t want to, and even when I thought the dream was dead. It was his stubborn persistence that kept the dream alive. And I can never get him out.

Wouldn’t be here today without them. Enough said. Let’s go Wildcats! by @cjburkel

WR Wiffle wins our first tournament as a league at the @strikeoutfoptourney!

All three of the boys contributed so much, and it could not have happened without them.

Carson Yurgaites was the bat that kept the squad rolling all day. Whether it was hitting a homer in the team’s first game, or going yard to “seal the deal” in the championship, he absolutely delivered at the plate all day. He also came up clutch as an inning eater in pool play, and despite dealing with arm soreness, delivered strikes and only allowed 1 run in 3.1 innings. Without Carson’s clutch pitching, we would not have been able to save Cooper for bracket play and the team’s playoff pitching success would have been put into jeopardy.

Liam Porter was the team’s “glue guy.” Although he did not have the flashy 4 home runs that Carson had, he grinded out at bats and worked walks to keep the innings moving. He also went yard against the tomato townies and got a W on the mound against Old Guard despite also dealing with bad arm soreness. He brought tournament experience to a squad that finished what he couldn’t last year.

Cooper “Big Zoop” Burkel was the ace of the squad and the reason that WR Wiffle won. His stat line across 6.2 innings: 0 earned runs, 0 hits allowed, 4 walks, 19 strikeouts, 1 perfect game. Zoop absolutely shoved when given the chance and dominated when it mattered most. However, he was not a one way player. He did not record an out in pool play. He was an on base machine and had a home run against tomato townies.

Overall, amazing day. Massive thanks to @strikeoutfoptourney and @griffinrizzi12 for putting the tournament on for such an amazing cause, and we hope to be back next year!
