I’m Caroline and my powerlifting journey began back in 2015 when I started training in the gym for the first time in my 57 years of life. 💪

Little did I know that in a few short years this decision would result in me going on to represent my country at the Commonwealth Games in Newfoundland, Canada!

Since then I’ve gone on to represent GB in two World’s and two European full powerlifting competitions. Recently I decided to turn my focus to the bench and as a result won the bronze medal this year at the World Bench Press Championships in Warsaw!

Now at 67 years old, and as a grandmother of two, I’ve been selected as part of the England Team to compete in my second Commonwealth Games in the Master’s 3 category!🎉

In order to support my journey to Winnipeg to compete, I’m hoping to raise £1,000. Any donations you can spare would be so greatly appreciated, or alternatively sharing my story would mean the world to me! 💚

Well, that was an eventful last week of May!

On 23rd I was honoured to represent Team GB in the M3 -84kg class at the World Bench Press Championships in Poland, my first international competition. The individual silver was wonderful but I’m most proud of the team bronze medal. Massive thanks to @cjcalver @joanneholden66 and @liz_elf_lifts who were great company alongside awesome teammates.

On Tuesday 26th I was informed that I needed surgery to remove a benign tumour in my pituitary gland and this was done at the Wessex Neurological Unit at Southampton General Hospital on Friday 29th.

This means that I’m now unable to compete at British Masters this weekend as I’m forbidden to lift anything heavier than a kettle for 6 to 8 weeks. I’ve also had to turn down the invitation to compete in Lithuania in August at the European Bench Press Championships.

All of this is disappointing but I know that I have time to be fully prepared for Commonwealths in September with the support and guidance of Coach @elliefrickensteel and the @steelpowerlifting crew.

Aged 61, this was my first ever experience of a hospital stay let alone major surgery. I couldn’t persuade the neurosurgeon to tattoo “I’ve had brain surgery” on my forehead so all I’ll have to show for it is a 3cm scar on my tummy where they removed a small piece of fat to reinforce the membrane round my brain! It remains to be seen how much the vision improves in my left eye but it definitely can’t get any worse now.

World Bench Press Championships 2026 in Warsaw Poland.
What an amazing time and great experience. I was part of a wonderful team ofGB M3 lifters who have made this such a special experience! Thank you @liz_elf_lifts @joanneholden66 ,@metchick_who_lifts Thank you also to the great coaching team for all their encouragement and support on the day, @coggles_fitness, @cogglesquats @sunnyjo_powerlifts .
My lifts I opened on 45 kg , 50 kg second lift and then I tried for a new PB 52.5 kg on third, it moved so I was really pleased about that! Hopefully get it next time! I finished 3rd winning the Bronze medal 🥉 The icing on the cake was the team Bronze medal 🥉.

1st place M3 76 kg Achieved all 3 lifts and I was so very happy to get my final 50 kg lift!!
It was so lovely to catch up with all my lifting friends!

Such a great morning yesterday competing at the British Masters National Powerlifting Competition. I finished 3rd with a squat PB, 97.5 kg and my best overall total 255 kg . Massive thank you to my wonderful coach @charmacpt and @causeimpegasus for all the support with nutrition and handling and @suzannelifts for great handling and encouragement! Such an honour to wear the GB singlet again,here in Drammen, at the Worlds Bench Press Championship. This is my final lift and I had to really dig deep!! Such a great day at East Midlands Masters and Novices Comp. My first ever 9 for 9 lifts, so happy. Here are my final lifts, 90 kg squat, 45 kg bench and 112.5 kg deadlift. As always met some fabulous lifters and made new friends. Thank you to my coach @charmacpt for all your support and my nutritionist for getting me to weight @causeimpegasus by @cjcalver
