Going into this meet, I was worried about a lot of things. Lifting in a higher weight class, hitting all the numbers I wanted, being able to actually close my travel duffel, etc etc. But even though I missed some lifts and didn't place as high as I could have, I can confidently say the worst parts of this trip were getting sunburned while playing volleyball and having to constantly endure the scuba dance. But I'm not too mad about that last one, because it came from the best teammates in the whole world. I love all of you so much, you are what makes BLSPL so great and such an important part of my life. I can't imagine lifting, or nationals, or my life without you. Seniors, thank you for your wisdom and your dedication to this team - you will be greatly missed next year.
I was thrilled to have placed sixth in such a competitive class, while being just a sophomore. 70 is a huge weight class filled with some incredibly strong young women, and I'm honored to have been able to share the platform with them. Of course I could sit here and grumble about not grinding out 135 on squat or making all my deadlifts (I was SO close to 5th and a medal), but as Ted Lasso says, I have to be a goldfish. I'm proud I could contribute to my team's points, and I can definitely say I'm not done.
The BIGGEST thank you to Ms. Kelly and Mr. Cordeiro - for trusting me to represent BLSPL, for your unwavering support and tough love, for all the hard work you put in to make us as strong as we can be. And finally, thank you to all the friends, family, and everyone else who've been cheering me on since the beginning. It means so much more than you know. First HS Nats
6/9 lifts
15th in the US🐺🦅
Meet PRs on all three lifts (no ATPRs)
58.55 kg bw
95 kg sq
55 kg bp
120 kg dl
Sacrificed my voice, a lot of my strength, and 4.5 kg bw for this. Upset I missed 2/3 of my squats and my first bench due to fatigue from cutting and forgetting my quads exist. But I learned a lot about the sport and myself, and I'm more determined than ever to push myself beyond what I thought I could do. Huge thanks to the most amazing coaches in the world for everything they've done to prepare, organize, and support us. So incredibly proud of my team and all they've worked so hard to accomplish. Watch out for me in Texas next year. CJ OUT‼️‼️ taken in Appleton, Wisconsin by @cjklinman_09
