You know, I had a friend remind me to showcase vulnerability… so here I am taking that leap.
This year has been.. a lot, to say the least. My entire life was flipped upside down and it was something which needed to happen because I was so busy walking on egg shells to become quite literally the shell someone demand I must be to get what I wanted in my life: a legacy, a family of my own to carry forth into the world.
When I sent the first screenshot to one of my friends, I laughed and joked about how the darkness of the stories I read began when everything felt like I was spinning out of control and loosing everything I had thought I wanted, but as the year evened out and I became stronger, focused on healing, and finding out if I wanted to live where I am, the lighter the stories became.
I thought of it as a joke, but it was true. If I were to post my timeline on my music, you would see a similar trend, one such being my top community playlist (from YT) was titled “I want to die” (I promise you, I didn’t)- but I was in a vortex of darkness in the spring and summer.
As with all things, there is a light at the end of it. Our lives are waves and the one thing you can’t do with the ocean is control it. We need to ride the waves, feel the emotions, talk about them, and heal.
This year, I came to hate and detest the word victim despite every place calling me that. Even survivor feels like a trigger because it feels as though we’re tying what has happened to us up with a pretty little bow, but what happens with victims of abuse is that it isn’t a pretty little bow. Nothing makes the scar on my wrist go away. Nothing stops the trigger that happens when someone, even my dog, touches a spot on my legs because of the abuse I suffered for so long. Nothing but time, therapy, extra patience with yourself, and… vulnerability.
So, for my survivors aka victims still finding a way to thrive, remember that sometimes we aren’t ready to thrive. Sometimes we’re embracing the darkness so that we can do the one thing we need to do: survive.
Forgive yourself for not leaving earlier.

As a non religious person who has been overly disappointed with the “spirit” of Christmas bolstered by the Christian religion and the overconsumption of “gifts” in the US, I want to support a. Holiday that focuses more on giving back and truly spending time slowing down to be with those you care for.

Scene reads:

Reyna,” she breathes my name.

My hand caresses her head, and I wind my fingers through her twists. “Yes?”

“I want you to be as loud as you need to be. Do not hold back any sound from me. Do not bite your lips, do not put your hand in your mouth, and do not stop breathing.”

Her words make my pelvic muscles tighten in response. My mouth dries up more as my heartbeat increases. I don’t speak, I’m not certain I can. My only reply is a quick jerk of my head up and down as her fingers massage me.

“I want to hear your voice, Reyna.” Her cello is low as she blows another breath over my lips, making my bottom arch up against the chill.

“Yes,” I agree, my response is a low breath.

“That’s my good Princess.” Her smile is gone seconds later when her mouth finds my opening.
