One thing a person can do for me, to make me the happiest girl on the planet, is send me a picture of my books on their bookshelf! 💕🥰😍🤗 These photos were mailed in to me by 4 different people on 3 different continents! 🤗🥰🥰 @_kristiandupont in the Netherlands, @atonalmuse in the USA, @ccysan in Taiwan, and another wonderful poet author living in the USA, whose name escapes me right now (I am so sorry!🙏).

When I saw how my books are regularly situated amongst Bukowski's books, I decided that if I dropped dead then and there, life would have already been worth living! 😅 Bukowski is a god in my book (as well as some of these other names here on these shelves❤). Bukowski is e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g. and being propped up beside him is e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g. ❤

@daliamogahed Dalia Mogahed is the former advisor of Barack Obama, whom Obama hand-picked during his presidency. That was the time she became privy to my works. Our connection, through my books, has spanned more than a decade now and this is a photo she sent me of her bookshelf at home. The way we are spun together through paper, ink, and the printed word is a very real magic that I am just so blessed to wield in this world!

It’s Been a While

She leaned forward and it felt like slow motion cinema aiming for my head; her torso pressed onto the edge of the glass tabletop, glint in her eyes, mauve-and-fuchsia-toned sky reflecting on the table between us. Then she cupped her mouth with her right hand and whispered to me:

“The truth was never absent from you

You were merely distracted from its presence inside of you.”

It’s the noise that calls you out and away from the lands of truth within. Everybody else’s noise, all of those stories that don’t belong to you; nevertheless, you’re expected to care about. The loudness, the distraction. Voices in hallways belonging to ghosts untethered to bodies buried in the ground but affixed to stories all around you. Apparitions begging for your attention the same way people beg for whatever chemicals they’ve got circulating their veins.

I come from a family of tall men. My daddy is 6’2” and my Ang-Kong (my paternal grandfather) isn’t that far behind at all. 🙆🏻‍♀️

In all of these old photos I’ve always got the worst bangs and I always ring my ma up on the phone, “Maaaa why did you have to cut my bangs that way!!??” 😅 Is there an app I can run my photos through that fixes hairstyles?? 🥸

These old photographs, I’m afraid, are becoming increasingly difficult to share online because the photo albums they’re being pulled from have sustained so much damage through the decades. 😞☹️ I do feel so lucky when I find one with minimal to no damage. And I remember this specific moment, actually. My dad and my Ang-Kong and my bunny named Parakeet, and I. I’m also very lucky that I experienced my grandparents spending significant valuable time with my parents, because I know that’s not so common at all. 🙏

I wish we could all pick out a moment, a glimmer of light, a snippet of an image, and just choose to return and to remain there, forever, if we want to!!! by @cjoybellc

What a day. I feel filled up in my heart. This is how we used to conduct world-building within our minds back in the day. This is how our thought castles formed, this is how we slowly built what we were made of, who we became, and what we now are. We built with pieces of life, pictures we took with our minds’ eye…of skies changing colours and warm bulbs patronizing elderly trees and leaves dancing on winds. We learned the shapes and sizes of our shadows walking on pavement like this. When is the last time you saw your shadow? Do you at least remember what shape it is? by @cjoybellc

For many people in the Philippines, our local cotton candy men are a more stable and present figure than some of our own fathers. I often wonder what it would be like if universes were to converge and we were to meet our moms and dads here in our own day, and they were to have Instagram accounts, and we’d stalk them and watch what they’re doing…would we even be friends? Would we belong to rival groups? Do you ever think about that too? Of bending time? This is my mama’s favourite photo of herself with her father. They are pictured here in my grandfather’s office at their business establishment. My mama looks to be around 21 here. I love how they effortlessly share this frame, unbeknownst to them, it would become stuck in an album and find its way to me one day a very long time later! Isn’t it crazy how that works? After relocating to a very walkable city, I’m still navigating the ins and outs of my wardrobe. How do I put together a wardrobe that I can sweat on but still feel put together wearing? It’s coming together slowly, fingers crossed 🤞🏻 🤞🏻😬

I am soooo very delighted with this leather-wrapped mirror because my favorite color for interior design is Tiffany Blue. I couldn’t find a Tiffany Blue mirror so I settled for “light green”. When it was finally delivered to my door, it arrived in the perfect Tiffany Blue shade and I was 🤯🤯🤯🤯 Now, if I really wanted a “light green” shade, I would have returned it HAHAHA but instead I really got my wish 🥹🙏

Dimitra and Halcyon, both are of the Echinodorus Cordifolia species, a fascinating species that is capable of transforming its own biology. It blooms snow-white blossoms only in the sunshine, and they all die at the end of fhe day—only to resurrect the very next day! And no I don’t mean they just “close”. They really DIE and then RESURRECT! Such an underrated and unknown species of plant.
