G'day, how ya goin'? 👋

I'm CJ & welcome to my Instagram. I've gained a lot more followers in the last few weeks, so I thought I would introduce myself properly 😎

I am going to be sharing a few different types of content here. I originally started this page to share a heap of music 🎶 which I recorded in the 00s and almost never shared with anyone (the plan is still to share this). But, my passions of retro video gaming 🕹️ and record collecting 💽 kind of took over. So it's going to be a mix of all the above and some other stuff thrown in. I think I'm going to start making some shorts at some point too.

About me - I'm born and bred in Scotland, but recently moved to West Australia in early 2024 with my family. I'm a big alternative music fan, and play a few different instruments. I was brought up on Nintendo (started on the SNES) and still have a lot of my old collection today. More recently I got into vinyl records, and I'm slowly building my collection of alternative/VGM stuff.

If anyone has any ideas on any collabs, I'd be delighted to get involved!

Ideally I want to be interacting with you all, so leave a comment, ask a question and #letstalkaboutgames #introduction #instaintro #retrogaming #retro #vgm #vgmvinyl #recordcollector #videogamecollection #nintendo #retronintendo #supernintendo #aboutme taken in Perth, Western Australia by @cjsretrostuff

1K followers! Thanks to each and every one of you for sticking around, liking, commenting, sharing and just generally being a great community! I love you all!

When I started this journey, I was just happy to be taking photos of my favourite things and posting them - even if no one was looking. So to see that so many people relate and share the passion really makes me smile!

Got another few exciting collaborations coming up in the next few weeks, that I can't wait to share with you all.

Anyway, thanks for sticking around! (And sorry for the weed in my driveway!)

"Time passes, people move...like a rivers flow, it never ends" The Legend of Zelda : Ocarina of Time.

I couldn't believe my eyes when I started backing up my families old home videos. This little 15 second glimpse into family life in the late 90's. Huddled round the TV, taking turns exploring a big new Hyrule. The adventure was real. This is how the 90s was for gamers around the world. No online DLC. No "googling" how to get past an area. Just friends and family bonding and making memories.

I hope people can make similar memories when the Ocarina of Time remake lands later this year. Though, I'd imagine not many people will be recording these memories on 8mm Hi-8 tape anymore!

Also, fair play to my brother for that karate chop to my throat! I probably deserved it. And also, fair play to that retro St Johnstone shirt too!

Thom Yorke - The Eraser. Ever since I discovered this album in the late 00s with my good friend @gyabin.almondvale it's been a favourite of mine. The Japanese only B-Sides CD "Spitting Feathers" was especially loved. With a bit of luck, and keeping my eyes on Discogs, I've managed to collect every track from that era on vinyl! The 12" "Harrowdown Hill" also includes an extended mix which I had never heard before!

Anyway, I know most of you probably don't care that much about this, but I'm so happy to have managed to piece together all of these and wanted to show it off!

Any other examples where the B-Sides are better than the album? Muse Hullabaloo also comes to mind...let me know yours!

Dolphin Park - Retro Game Remix. Anyone who has played Wave Race 64 knows that the soundtrack to this game is up there with the greatest. From the pumped up high octane intro, to the cool night vibes of Twilight City, the music sets the vibes for every race perfectly.

The record of cover versions, has everything from rocking guitar solos, to in your face sax solos. It really catches the spirit of the MIDI, late 90s soundtrack and blows it up to what it would have been, if the tech existed back then on the old N64.

Massive shout-out to @retrogameremix and @manawavemedia for making this a reality. Fun fact, it was actually recorded on the Surf Coast here in Oz too! As always, shoutout to @pixelcrib for always providing a great service!

What's your memories of Wave Race 64? Let me know in the comments, let's talk about games!!!

Oh, and the attached song isn't actually the artist, they aren't on Instagram to add!

My 100th post!!! Thanks to everyone for coming along for the rose tinted ride with me so far. Every like, comment, tag and share has helped make me feel part of a real community of like minded nostalgic gamers. It would all be nothing without you all!

I had this Majora's Mask replica 3D printed and hand painted to order by @the.happy.mask.salesman and the quality is absolutely fantastic. With all the excitement of the Ocarina of Time remake, I've come to realise that the idea of Majora's Mask being remade in the same way, gets me even more excited! So I think my fav game of all time has turned purple for now 🟣🟢

What's your favorite Zelda game? Is Majora's Mask remake in the works?? 🤫

I'm moving house at the moment, so here's a video of me jumping into a bush in 2008 to keep the algorithm happy. Special thanks to @calumrr88 for the soundtrack.

Father Ted 🍀 If you have watched this comedy show, you already know. If you haven't, you really got to give it a try!

3 Irish priests have been exiled by the church to their own private island, Craggy Island, because of their not very faithful habits. It's definitely not for kids, and will make you laugh out loud every episode!

I've had this box set on my radar for a long while, and found myself in @jbhifi today, and there it was, sitting on the shelf.

Look forward to digging in for the first time in years!

Have you seen the show? What's your favorite episode or moment?! 🐄🐮 @_father_ted

Star Wars Episode 1 Racer. I picked up the Star Wars Heritage Pack for Nintendo Switch yesterday and decided this was the game to start with.

I was never any good at this game on the N64 (think the PAL framerate had a lot to answer for), but I managed to complete this version in around 3 hours!

Tight controls, super fast action and a cool upgrade system all made this a blast to run through. I just wish there was more challenge to be had. The unlockable characters are all pretty easy to unlock, and there isn't really much reason to play on after that.

In my couple of hours with the game, I hit a couple of glitches, and grabbed videos of them. Check the second slide for a laugh. "ITS A NEW LAP RECORD!".

Have you played this one recently? Let m know your thoughts!
