Chef King-Colon is happy to announce a collaboration with @famplfd Supper Club This Friday! A Tribute To My Moms. This evening is more than a dinner, it is a celebration of my mommy, the woman who helped shape the man and chef I am today.

Friday August 28, I invite you to experience a small piece of her story through mine. Every dish represents a memory, a feeling, and a piece of home. A Colombian 🇨🇴 Experience.

She may no longer sit at my table, but her love will forever have a seat.

Te extraño más de lo que las palabras pueden expresar.. These past months have been hard on me. Can’t believe on Mother’s Day, it also your 4 month anniversary of you passing. I haven’t been sleeping or eating right lately, but I’m trying to change that because I know you would be yelling at me to take care of myself. I still replay your voicemails & videos almost every day hearing you tell me to keep pushing, or hearing you laugh talking about what you were gonna cook when I got home lol. I kept your phone number too… the same number you had for 40 years of your life. I just couldn’t let it go. Your baby girl Brownie turned one 🐾. She misses you every single day. Sometimes she still looks around like she’s waiting for you to walk through the door. It’s just been me and her figuring life out together. Ever since you went home, every month has been a rollercoaster. Mostly downs if I’m being honest. But in some of my lowest moments, I felt you near me. Like somehow you were still protecting me even when I couldn’t see clearly. Life feels different now. Some people faded away along the journey and things around me don’t always feel the same anymore, but I’m learning to accept what life reveals. And by the way… I didn’t know you told Maria to check on me 24/7 lol. That sounds exactly like you though. Always making sure your son was ok. During your balloon release, so many people came to honor you and left heartfelt messages. The love in that space felt so warm. It reminded me how special you truly were and how many lives you touched. I also want you to know I’m seeing a therapist. I’m not myself right now. I’m angry, confused, hurt and honestly I still don’t know where life is taking me. But I’m trying. Every day I’m trying. Today I cooked your favorite Mother’s Day meal. Just me and Brownie 🙏🏾. It wasn’t the same without you there, but I did it for you. Anyways, enough talking for now. Like I asked before, please continue leading me in the right direction because there’s too many arrows pointing me the wrong way lately. Stay close to me tonight.

Thank you to everyone who came out Saturday night to celebrate Women who put food on our table!

The hugest thank you to @Mikeeatsofficial for catering a feast for our guest. Mike and Charlie took the best care of everyone! They made sure that everyone had more than enough food, drinks, and the presentation was fabulous!

Do me a favor, say a prayer for all women! Pray for their joy, protection, and peace, as they show up for the world with love ❤️

Mommy 🕊️❤️‍🩹

Mommy… it’s late, and I can’t sleep again. The house feels too quiet without you, and I keep reaching for my phone like I can still call you. I don’t understand why you had to leave me, and some nights the hurt feels heavier than I can carry. I keep telling myself I’ll wake up soon and this will all make sense, but right now I just miss you. I hope you know I tried my best. I spent my whole life making sure you were okay, making sure you were loved and protected. I would do it all again, every single time. You are my heart and my soul. My soul feels broken without you here, but my heart feels calm knowing you’re not in pain anymore. I love you, Mommy… I say it out loud just in case you can still hear me. Everything I am is because of you. I promise I’ll carry your strength, your wisdom, and your kindness with me and show the world the woman who raised me. Brownie keeps looking for you, and so do I. You’re ymy best friend, my safe place, my home. Thank you for loving me the way you did. Please stay close to me tonight. I need you.
