Kept six feet apart. Grew miles closer.

Last night at #WEDCHomecoming, I did the thing: I stepped up to the podium and told the story of leading the Women’s Economic Development Council through the pandemic.

When the world shut its doors, we opened new ones online. Virtual events, digital networking, and real check-ins kept our members connected, and our organization kept growing.

Speaking in front of the women who lived that chapter with me? Heart racing, hands talking, and completely worth it. Growth lives on the other side of uncomfortable.

Come home. Reconnect. Celebrate. #WEDCHSV #Homecoming #ComfortableBeingUncomfortable by @ckings426

Fall break, from HSV to DCA to Boston, then finally landing in Vermont.

Boston gave us the Freedom Trail, the aquarium and a quiet afternoon at the JFK Presidential Library, with history at every turn. Vermont gave us crisp air, blazing leaves, and a morning of fly fishing that taught us patience. We didn’t catch much, but we laughed a lot and that counts.

We came home a little fuller. Where to next….

Girls, meet the Howard U family. HU family, prepare for the future arrival of my babies. For one brief, spectacular moment, I was the cool mom, with the cool friends, who did some cool things in college. Blaze your own trail and I’ll always be behind you, cheering you on. #HU #weneverlostaparty by @ckings426

Spunk Baby directed us to pause, come outside and look at the pink sky on Monday. Blessed that she made us stop and appreciate God’s work! #blessed #humanature #godshand by @ckings426

Took kids to explore art. They saw things that I stopped seeing. Emotions, contrast, textures, lighting. Reminded me that slow exploration and slow parenting allows the “it” to settle in. #KidsAndArt #MuseumWithKids #ComingHome #HSVMusuemofArt #AndyWarhol by @ckings426
