Un precioso ganso silvestre.
El mas grande de los gansos de Chile. Tienden a ser monógamos o a lo menos, hasta donde se haya observado, permanecen con fidelidad por varias temporadas. Su distribución se extiende en la cordillera de los Andes (Perú, Bolivia, Argentina, Chile) hasta los 5000 msnm, aunque de acuerdo a publicaciones oficiales (ROC y otros), en la zona central, migra hacia los valles en invierno en bandadas, a disfrutar su dieta herbívora en campos de cultivo y pastizales húmedos. Considerado “en peligro” desde Valparaíso al sur.

A beautiful wild goose.
It is the largest of Chile’s geese. They tend to be monogamous—or at least, based on observations, remain faithful to their mates for several seasons. Their range extends across the Andes (Peru, Bolivia, Argentina, and Chile) up to an altitude of 5,000 meters above sea level; however, according to official publications (such as ROC), populations in the central region migrate in flocks to the valleys during winter to feed on crops and damp grasslands (herbivore). It is considered “endangered” in the area stretching from Valparaíso southward.

Esp: Para sus 73-75 cms, pico largo y curvo, es demasiado abundante en las ciudades sureñas de Chile posándose en árboles y techos, o alimentándose en parques y plazas. Es llamativo también ver las bandadas que se acomodan en los campos. Ruidosas, pero divertidas de ver.

Eng.: Despite their size of 73–75 cm, they are remarkably abundant in Chile southern cities, perching on trees and rooftops or foraging in parks and plazas. It is also striking to see the flocks that settle in the country fields. They are noisy, yet entertaining to watch.

Esp.: Son distintos individuos a diferentes horas del día. Dos perchados otro en vuelo.

Contemplemos las aves sin perturbar. A distancia suficiente, en calma. No alteremos su conducta.

Esp.: Árboles centenarios en la nieve.

Inmersos en una profunda quietud cual gigantes dormidos aguardando otra era para despertar.
A veces también debemos ponernos en pausa. Cualquiera sea la estación del año, sentir la lluvia, el viento acariciando nuestra faz; apreciar el aleteo de una mariposa, la sonrisa de nuestra madre, la alegría de un niño.
Recuperemos la comprensión del por qué hacemos las cosas (trabajo, estudios, causas emprendidas) y retomar la senda habiendo recuperado la valoración de lo simple y sencillo.

Immersed in a profound stillness, like sleeping giants awaiting another era to awaken.

Sometimes we too must pause. Whatever the season, feel the rain, the wind caressing our face; appreciate the flutter of a butterfly’s wings, a mother’s smile, the joy of a child.
Let us rediscover the understanding of why we do things (work, studies, causes undertaken) and resume our path having regained the value of simplicity.

Valles Alto
Maule. Chile.

Esp.: Estos son rasgos de épocas ya pasadas. He vuelto al mismo lugar varios años, en la misma estación, pero el rostro de estos parajes ha cambiado. Los minerales de la superficie se lavan con las aguas, los sedimentos se mueven, cubren tonos y sellan cicatrices, o crean otras. También el hombre va generando surcos y mellas, a veces útiles, a veces innecesarias. Es una naturaleza viva, que se adapta, que corrige, y que soporta.
Nosotros, los de antaño, también hemos cambiado. Cada uno decide qué cicatrices conservar, y qué sentimientos atesorar de aquellas. Cuáles sueños alcanzar y por cuales seguir luchando.

Tú puedes. Sigue adelante construyéndote a ti mismo y aportando para quienes te rodean.

Eng: These are traces of bygone eras. I’ve returned to the same place several years, in the same season, but the face of these landscapes has changed. The surface minerals are washed away by the waters, the sediments shift, covering tones and sealing scars, or creating new ones. Humankind, too, leaves furrows and nicks, sometimes useful, sometimes unnecessary. It is a living nature, adapting, correcting, and enduring. We, those of yesteryear, have also changed. Each of us decides which scars to keep, and which feelings to cherish from them. Which dreams to achieve and which to continue fighting for.

You can do it. Keep moving forward, building yourself and contributing to those around you.
