THE CLAFLIN STANDARD. History has been made once again in Baltimore! During the 2026 Food Lion CIAA Tournament, Joshua Williams and Madison Maurice were officially crowned Mister and Miss CIAA 2026. This victory marks a monumental moment for Claflin University, as the duo continues a tradition of excellence that has transformed the CIAA royal landscape into a “Orange and Maroon” affair.

This win is particularly historic as it marks the third time that both the Mister and Miss Claflin University titles have swept the CIAA competition since the Mister component was officially added in 2022. The “Claflin Dynasty” at the CIAA began in earnest in 2023 when Mendel Rivers and Arteria Gibson became the first duo from the same institution to take home both crowns. That momentum was sustained in 2025 by Derrion Campbell and Genesis Morris, who were crowned Mister and Miss CIAA just last year.

The legacy of the Miss CIAA title at Claflin actually predates the duo-sweep era, with several former Queens bringing the crown back to Orangeburg. However, the consistent dominance of the full royal court since 2022 proves that Claflin University is not just participating in the tournament—they are setting the standard for HBCU leadership and scholarship on a national stage.

Join us in celebrating Joshua and Madison as they begin their historic reign representing the entire CIAA conference!

Future Educators. Present Advocates. Justice Always. ✊🏾🖤

We stand in solidarity with Nolan Wells because our commitment to education extends beyond the classroom. As Claflin University’s Call Me MiSTER cohort, we recognize that being future educators means using our voices, standing for what is right, and advocating for justice in the communities we serve.

We are not only preparing to teach the next generation; we are preparing to stand up for them. Our responsibility is to educate, empower, and advocate—because silence is never the standard.

Justice for Nolan Wells. 🖤✊🏾
