- Claflin University sophomore Morgan Coverson-Springs was named the 2026 United States Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches’ Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division II Region Women’s Track Athlete of the Year. The honor came after the Aiken, South Carolina native completed a terrific outdoor track & field season and it marked the second regional athlete of the year honor for Coverson-Springs.

The honor is another in a terrific season for Coverson-Springs. In addition to being named the USTFCCCA NCAA Division II Region Women’s Track Athlete of the Year, she also earned a pair of USTFCCCA NCAA Division II All-American honors after placing 12th in the women’s 400m hurdles and fifth in the women’s 100m hurdles at the 2026 NCAA Division II Women’s Outdoor Track & Field National Championship Meet. She earned first team All-American honors in the women’s 100m hurdles and she was a second-team All-American in the women’s 400m hurdles. by @claflintrack
