My newest poem! Inspired by Proverbs 1:20-33 Proverbs 3:13-19 Proverbs 8 Proverbs 9:1-12 •• #poetry #spokenword #faith #proverbs #biblicalwomanhood by @claire.vanness
In this poem about grief, I used specific words to describe grief in a negative way. I use: undermining me, demanding, and angry. At the end I use these very words to describe Jesus, who demonstrated these but with the motivation of love, of justice, of kindness, of mercy. When I hold my grief with who I know God to be, everything changes. Because it comes from my God who created emotions and who can only be good. However both realities are very true. Grief can be overwhelming and swallow up a balanced perspective and yet it is necessary. Within this poem I seek to hold the both/and, while not villainizing either. Our lived experiences are very real and so is our God, who grieves with us. by @claire.vanness

New poem - The Light Genesis 1:3-4 “And then God announced, “Let there be light,” and light burst forth! And God saw the light as pleasing and beautiful; he used the light to dispel the darkness.” ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭7‬:‭14‬ ‭ “Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.” John 8:12 “Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”” by @claire.vanness
Whenever I’m writing I always have a favorite line or two. So instead of a full poem, I compiled my favorite lines from all different poems I’ve been working on by @claire.vanness
